[Bug 916077] Re: Incorrect default GRUB installation target when /boot is on LVM
I ran into that one as well when installing Ubuntu 12.04. I tried using a BTRFS as file system for the root mountpoint (/). I solved my trouble by using EXT4 again. Seems like grub cannot handle BTRFS yet :-/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/916077 Title: Incorrect default GRUB installation target when /boot is on LVM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/916077/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 727143] Re: unity-window-decorator crashes with SIGSEGV when closing Java windows
I don't think I've got another bug; I think I just found some other triggers for the current bug. Why? Because if I create a new user with a default configuration of compiz, I've got no immediate trouble using the decorator (everything seems to work fine in the beginning). So far I haven't been able to figure out what part of my configuration causes the high probability of the decorator crashes. Hence my question here. Maybe somebody knows or has at least an idea what can be the trigger. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/727143 Title: unity-window-decorator crashes with SIGSEGV when closing Java windows -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 727143] Re: unity-window-decorator crashes with SIGSEGV when closing Java windows
I'm using 11.04 with classic gnome sessions, some features (wobbly windows, shadows, a chosen style etc.) on a Dell E6510 with intel full- HD graphic and experience the decorator crashes extremely often (typically, I just need some seconds to reproduce). Opening the System drop-down menu is usually enough to start the flickering. Since several weeks I have now switched off the decorator plugin; my windows have neither borders nor shadows, thus. The optics are rather dull this way. I am wondering: This cannot be what everybody else is experiencing; it would never have been released this way. But what can be the special aspect in my case? Any ideas for another workaround (instead of switching off the decorator) are welcome.
[Bug 784301] Re: Sort by year option doesn't work as expected
I can confirm the bug. Please do not just change the description ;-) If you have lots of albums from a band with several decades of history, it makes much more sense to sort them by year as this will group the various phases of a band (e. g. when which band members participated). The current situation where the album covers are always sorted by their name is not a good solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/784301 Title: Sort by year option doesn't work as expected -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 600453] Re: [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU)
Seth, I checked using your instruction. I was testing the kernel you provided; so this is bad news :-/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600453 Title: [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 600453] Re: [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU)
Seth, I installed your kernel on Ubuntu 10.10, Dell Latitude E6510 with Intel graphics 1920x1080. Unfortunately, neither standalone nor with a second monitor attached did the main screen light up after mode switch during booting. The second monitor worked fine. It's attached via a docking station and a display port cable. There is a slight chance that I failed in choosing your kernel when booting; installation of the debs provided by you told me that this would mean upgrading an installed package, so I figured that now my installed 2.6.35-28 was going to be upgraded. This kernel (35-28) then I chose on boot-time, though the grub menu did not display any of your complicated version number suffixes, resulting from the detailed patch level stuff. I' love to run further tests because I'd like to step down from the upstream 2.6.38 patch I'm using currently as this prevents me from using a VMware installation (some different trouble) and doesn't seem too stable as a whole. [Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 (NOT E6510)
After testing now for a second day, no stability issues (X crashes) to report (which is a great relief!). One issue found: I suspended at work with a second monitor attached, then unplugged the second monitor, went home, tried to resume without a second monitor, got a black screen with backlight. Switching to other consoles worked, but switching back to X just restored the black screen. So I could kill and restart my X from another console, so rebooting wasn't necessary, but of course the session was lost. I can prevent running into this problem by either unplugging the second monitor (and quickly reconfiguring the X for single-display) before suspending or maybe (didn't test this) by attaching another second monitor before resuming, so there is a workaround. [Bug 600453] Re: [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU)
John, I am not sure whether I also tried Fn-F8 (which has a laptop/screen icon on it) (p=70%). I'm also not sure whether I tried it more than once (p=10%). Sorry for being so vague; I just tried everything which came to mind. Also closing and opening the lid didn't help. Manuel, I did not try brightness changes; nice idea :-) I also found out that Windows-P in my configuration does something with my displays (turning them or something like that), maybe that can help as well. I just tried to reproduce the problem reported in #194 but couldn't (tried it twice just now). The laptop screen always refreshed properly after resuming from suspend without the second monitor. I will try to reproduce the problem again in the next time and if I manage, I will try your suggestions and report back here. But maybe the problem was due to something else. [Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 (NOT E6510)
Andy, I tested the kernel located at http://people.canonical.com/~apw/lp561802-natty/ on my Dell Latitude E6510, 2GB, 64bit, Intel graphics. My distribution is Ubuntu 10.10. First: Your version seems to be working fine. No issues whatsoever up to now. I'm booting and using it with an external second monitor attached via the display port (resolution: 1600x1200). I will add another report here in some minutes regarding a boot without a second monitor. I also tested all other kernel versions discussed here which were coming as a .deb package ready for download (i. e. I did not test all patch versions). Before the kernel pointed to by you I was using a .35 kernel. With 2.6.38-997.201102020913 and 2.6.38-997.201102081238 I had stability issues after some minutes (without a second monitor after some hours): X just crashed and I had to relogin. I was under the impression that it had trouble handling X sessions with a lot of stuff going on, maybe memory leaks. No such issues with the 2.6.38-4-generic_2.6.38-4.31~lp561802v201102162013 now. I tried to crash it by opening about a hundred windows, using fancy Compiz extensively, running flash applications, Youtube videos, 3D applications etc. but to no avail :) Uptime now is 44 minutes and everything seems to be just fine. Also suspend/resume worked without issues. I did not test hibernate (to disk). I will check booting without a second monitor now, just to make sure, and report back here. [Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 (NOT E6510)
Andy, I rebooted without a second monitor and redid my tests (quickly). No problem found. I attached the second monitor on the fly. Detection worked fine, no issues to report. What I like most is that I'm now able to suspend/resume the laptop. Thanks a lot for your effort!
