I'm running Kubuntu 10.04 with the kde4.5 testing packages and virtuoso still peaks high, even when indexing is disabled. It probably has to do with akonadi being used (I'm trying out the akonadi resources like imap and stuff). Hi, the problem still is there in Lucid as well When opening the assistant for addressbook-sources, it only gives me other source, but when I click on it, there is an error message and nothing goes on. When clicking on data sources (F4), openoffice crashes. Installing the openoffice-evolution - package brought a bit of progress, but still no kde addressbook visible... I created a new profile, but then firefox crashed every time I tried to open up all-in-one-sidebar, or edit the preferences. I then completely wiped firefox, renamed the .mozilla directory to another name and reinstalled firefox without any extensions. But it is still much slower than e.g. konqueror (Comparison: I opened www.waze.com first in firefox and then in konqueror. By the time konqueror had loaded the page, firefox still looked up the name). So it doesn't seem to be connected to my personal settings. It is page rendering which takes much longer than in other browsers and longer than in 9.10. I added a few plugins like flashblock, all-in-one-sidebar etc., but had the same in 9.10 as well. Is there a way to get a clean copy of firefox running, so I could look whether it is the baggage from my old home folder? Update: I deleted all instances of hp-photosmart-7700 series (there were 3) and reinstalled through the cups webinterface. Now I can print several documents from the front usb port, but it still freezes from the rear usb port. I will now try to remove and reinstall from cups when plugged in into the rear port. ... Done. I can now print several documents from the rear port as well using the hpcups backend. It still freezes when using the hpijs backen. (somehow it installed both, I think because of the automatic printer install process in Ubuntu). Attached is the cups error log. [Bug 414689] Re: photosmart 7760 freezes when starting a print job on ubuntu jaunty
I had the same problem with /var/logs/cups - setting cups to debug2 didn't work, cups did not restart. in debug mode it wouldn't record any error. The printer just freezes, by the way, it's every time now, I can't print from my computer. I tried plugging my printer into different usb plugs, but none work, - probably because I only have usb 2.0 plugs. Lucas working usb plug might be an usb 1.1 plug?
