Re: [Bug 675573] Re: fails to suspend / resume on certified hardware
Hi, A year has passed since this bug was confirmed. 18 months have elapsed since I first reported it. This is not directed at you personally, but I believe that if a distribution wants to have people test it's early, alpha or beta, versions the best way is to engage people who report bugs. Ubuntu has consistently demonstrated that it is not able to. And the quality of Ubuntu has suffered, and continues to suffer, as a result. I no longer use Ubuntu simply because the bug reporting experience has been so terrible. Thanks, Anand On 25 July 2012 22:54, Christopher M. Penalver christopher.penal...@gmx.com wrote: Anand Kumria, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend ? As well, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it. Hi Chris, I'm unlikely to do any of the suggestions you mention as, as you've read, I no longer use Ubuntu. Well, I do - but I never bother to report bugs anymore. [Bug 697095] Re: polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_datalist_id_set_data_full() during logout
#134 indicates that #6 is the reason for marking as wontfix and not open to SRU. #6 just says that it happens on logout. Actually, this is a particularly egregious and annoying bug. It happens on shutdown too. It means that a laptop will lock-up, and you need to forcibly power it off, and then wait for a fsck when next starting. [Bug 825825] [NEW] have DNS based verification occur by default
Public bug reported: Hi, openssh can lookup a host's key in the DNS (via the SSHFP record) and use it compare hosts presented public key. VerifyHostKeyDNS yes I believe that is the connection is secured via DNSSEC that this option will allow for the host's key to be automagically accepted. However I have not verified that myself. However I have had this personally set to 'Yes' and for initial connection to hosts which are NOT secured via DNSSEC I am prompted to accept the key. If you want to be more cautious with the change then perhaps setting 'VerifyHostKeyDNS ask' would be better. Either way, I think that making this the default option will: - increase security for those who choose to deploy SSHFP - increased awareness of this ability The only downside is that a connection will make external calls to the DNS to determine if a SSHFP record exists. It would be great if this change could be made before 12.04 is released. ** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/825825 Title: have DNS based verification occur by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/825825/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

DNSSEC will place an additional burden on the network and, in particular, the infrastructure based DNS servers. StabeUpdateRequest for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. IMPACT: As additional distributions switch to generating their initrd using dracut, grub2 will become unable to boot them. [Bug 675573] Re: fails to suspend / resume on certified hardware
Hi Jeremy, I read the wiki page you indicated. (It would be good if you could duplicate this bug and file it against the appropriate web person to have this machine removed from the certified list -- since it seems to be incorrect). According to that page, I looked at: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/info/kernel-version-map.html to identify the most appropriate kernel. I am running lucid - so I think the most appropriate kernel version would be: Lucid (master -0) Ubuntu Kernel Version Mainline Kernel Version TIP 2.6.32.26+drm33.12 2.6.32-27.492.6.32.26+drm33.12 Reading that document further, it indicates that the simplest way to install this is to look in: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/ Where, it says, Each build directory contains the header and image .deb files for the i386 and amd64 architectures, generic flavour. Unfortunately that directory does not contain any images. In fact, I have to go back to 'http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/daily/2010-11-22-natty/' in order to find any. Actually that was the ONLY directory that did contain kernel images. Note that there appears to be nothing related to '-lucid' in the mainline directory. Could you confirm that this test will actually be useful since the kernel in lucid in unlikely to ever become the kernel being used in maverick or natty. Thanks, Anand P.S. [Bug 640432] Re: X does not start (nouveau)
OK - sorry that I've been unable to update this bug. I have four kernels on my system (currently). kernel | attempt 1 | attempt 2 | attempt 3 -- 2.6.32-24-gen| good| good| good 2.6.35-19-gen| bad | bad | bad 2.6.35-20-gen| good| bad | good 2.6.35-22-gen| bad | bad | good The only reason I even tried multiple boot attempts was when I was writing down 2.6.35-20 and 2.6.35-22 I wanted to re-confirm that the results I had. And they differed. Let me know if I should try any additional kernel versions. -- X does not start (nouveau) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/640432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 640432] Re: X does not start (nouveau)
Sure - in progress. It appears that Launchpad relies on a text browser to support button type=submit ... in order to authenticate. Which w3m does not support.
