  lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
  Release: 9.10

I am unable to have sound playback through HDMI, presumably because there is
no PCM codec support with the current state of my driver. An alsa-info.sh dump
is below, and below that a pastebin.ca of speaker-test

  http://pastebin.ca/1567621

Also, changing the PCI ID to 1002aa38 in the two places in
patch_atihdmi.c resulted in no sound or mixer device being available
when the drivers were loaded. Went back to distro-default drivers
  afterwards.

Only IEC958 Mute/Unmute control works, rest are permission denied. All
permission denied are denied under user and root accounts.

Attempting compilation as per bug 223407 did not work.

[Bug 431124] Re: [Karmic A5] No sound through HDMI on ATI HD 4670

2010-03-19 Thread Anders Kirchenbauer
-p on apport-collect appears to be depreciated and does not work.
apport-collect 431124 worked just fine.

This is taken from the 19MAR2010 Lucid Nightly for x64.

The system appears to play audio, and the previous behavior of jumping
and stalling GStreamer is gone, however there is no sound. Disabled an
onboard soundcard prior to the boot cd to prevent any strange info from
that, this is strictly from the video card.

Prior experience has HDMI audio working under Windows, and occassionally
under Linux through the FGLRX driver (not always, and sometimes the
driver has to be unloaded and reloaded to work in that config).

Due to hardware changes (different graphics card) no. Sorry about that.

I was using dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-177-kernel-source to rebuild the
kernel modules through DKMS.

 If yes, can you type:
 sudo apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-177-kernel-source

 and attach your /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/177.76/build/make.log ?

[Bug 262043] Re: Upgrade to latest Kernel 2.6.27.1 (Intrepid Alhpa_4) crashes on loading OS

2008-08-29 Thread Anders Kirchenbauer
This problem may be due to DKMS. The rebuild appears to be done, but it is
applied to the running kernel /lib/modules, not the new directory for the new
kernel. Verified lack of new kernel module in new kernel module directory with
sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-177-kernel-source

Removing all DKMS Modules
Done.
Removing all DKMS Modules
Done.
Adding Module to DKMS build system
driver version= 177.70
Doing initial module build
Installing initial module
Done.

No nvidia.ko was put into the new directory.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. There is now a newer Tribe CD available and we were
wondering if the problem exists with it. Additionally, it would be
quite helpful to know Thanks in advance.
