Today I tried disabling the bluetooth in the BIOS, without success. I
also tried the Mainline Kernel 6.10 and LTS Kernel 6.6.47, also without
success.

[Bug 2059738] Re: Kernel 6.8 - Shutdown/Reboot hangs on Noble 24.04

2024-08-17 Thread André Tura Markus
It happens with my ThinkPad T460 as well. It apperars to be a problem in
6.8 Kernel, as described in this workaround:

https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/3269#issuecomment-2282823931

The problem do not manifest in Fedora 40 with Kernel 6.10 or in Ubuntu
23.10 with older Kernel.

Can confirm. It has affected all hosts that we are supporting at work.
Work around has been to install Nvidia driver version 535 for now.

[Bug 1970675] Re: Ubuntu update removed Digikam and I can't re-install it!

2022-04-28 Thread Denis-André Desjardins
Yes, it is 22.04. Everything was perfect before the update. But I took
no chances and did a system back-up using Aptik. Did the update, Digikam
was REMOVED from the system, I have no idea why this occurred. Tried to
re-install via synaptic and got the same result as with apt-get install!
I've determined that the root of the problem has something to do with
digikam-private-libs. Both versions available,
4:7.6.0-0ubuntu1~22.04.sav0 (jammy) and 4:7.5.0-3fakesync1 (jammy),
refer to libsndio7.*** (something) there are also two versions for that.
I've also written to Digikam maintainers, no response yet.

Hi,

this was a problem for me too, but only until i saw, that there is a specific
driver/kernel-package for my exact notebook.
Maybe someone more experienced is able to extract the fix out of the tuxedo

include fixes not needed for a different configuration):

[Bug 1960756] [NEW] VNC connection to Wayland / PipeWire aborts

2022-02-13 Thread André Colomb
Public bug reported:

Connecting to a modern installation of Ubuntu 21.10 Impish Indri using
the Wayland display server (and PipeWire / gnome-remote-desktop) does
not work from the current LTS release 20.04 Focal Fossa. It aborts
immediately after authentication.

The bug appears directly related to the version 1.4.2 in focal, as
building the up-to-date remmina version 1.4.23 package (from jammy)
under focal does not exhibit the faulty behavior. Since future versions
of Ubuntu itself will likely stick with Wayland and therefore cannot be
used with Remmina from the LTS release anymore, I think an SRU might be
in order.

As a workaround, other VNC viewers such as Vinagre are able to connect
to the same server under focal.

[Bug 1895943] Re: zsys automatic snapshots just eat up all drive space and never get cleaned up

2021-11-27 Thread André Stein
I can report the same just after a few month of working with ZFS. I now
get this error message I try to do an apt upgrade:

ERROR couldn't save system state: Minimum free space to take a snapshot
and preserve ZFS performance is 20%.

I am using ZFS on Ubuntu 21.10 on a private notebook that I use
_occasionally_ meaning maximum once per week without a lot of data
intensive stuff going there.

I agree with other comments that this ZFS default behaviour gives a bad
impression on an otherwise great filesystem. The idea of snapshots is a
good one but should have much saner defaults that also take into account
on how much space they take. With that experience I would never enable
ZFS with Ubuntu on a production relevant box.

[Bug 1952086] [NEW] Double click titlebar toggle-maximize-horizontally/vertically not working

2021-11-24 Thread André Hertler
Public bug reported:

Double clicking gnome window titlebar not performing action set with gsettings
nor gnome-tweaks.
Instead double clicking will maximize the window as if the action
"toggle-maximize" was performed.

Changing the setting in gnome-tweaks show up in dconf. But the action is
not performed.

Example:

dconf watch /
/org/gnome/desktop/wm/preferences/action-double-click-titlebar
  'toggle-maximize-horizontally'

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run gnome-tweaks
2. Click "Window Titlebars"
3. Set "Titlebar Actions - Double click" and select "Toggle Maximize
Horizontally"
4. Double click a gnome-terminal titlebar.

Results: Window maximizes fully

Expected results: Window maximizes on the horizontal axis only.

[Bug 237941]

2021-07-02 Thread André Pirard
If we get the "open parent folder" working again, it would be a great help in
finding the searched keyword in a bookmark, jumping to the parent folder and
reaching the list of associated bookmarks.
As a kludge, one can create a dummy bookmark with the exact name of its folder.
Thought in Wallonia.

[Bug 1912331] Re: Many interfaces lead to "kernel receive buffer overrun"

FWIW, I tried reproducing this artificially by running 200 Kubernetes
Pods on a freshly installed Focal and the issue did not occur.

[Bug 1921758] Re: libc6 fails to install and crashes system

2021-03-30 Thread André
Please close this bug.

Sorry for wasting anyone's time.

I had a legacy link that broke the system. I'm guessing this was due to
this installation being very old, or my own error somewhere in time.

I didn't save it to write down here, but it was something like:

/usr/lib64 -> /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu//

[Bug 1921758] Re: libc6 fails to install and crashes system

2021-03-29 Thread André
The issue got triggered after a normal upgrade process.

> sudo apt autoclean && sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

The install itself is on a Toshiba laptop that has been running the latest
development version (at any given time) since the end of 2016.

It has been running hirsute for some weeks/months now (I'm not sure of
the exact date).

I had another upgrade problem a couple of weeks ago as my root directory
didn't have links for lib, lib32, lib64, libx32 (it had actual folders
and convert-usrmerge failed badly, I did create the links by hand, after
being sure the same files existed under /usr/lib__).

---

The image I'm referring is a downloadable hirsute iso file that boots in
grub to recover the system. I gave that detail as it could help someone
else with the same problem.

Sorry, as it wasn't clear that the list was a temporary fix to have a
working system.

[Bug 1918402] Re: super-tab or alt-tab only recognising two apps when more open

2021-03-12 Thread André
Nevermind, mutter 3.38.3 did solve it.

It also solved a touchpad bug that affected touch click or non-natural
scrolling

I installed it with a system upgrade just before writing the comment and
misinterpreted the install date on the logs.

A non-related reboot revealed the fix.

[Bug 1912331] Re: Many interfaces lead to "kernel receive buffer overrun"

2021-02-24 Thread André Hänsel
I don't completely understand it myself.

I have a Focal system with k3s installed and about 70 pods (about 150
containers) and about 70 veth devices.

In /lib/systemd/system/systemd-networkd.socket under "[Socket]" I have
set "ReceiveBuffer=128M".

Maybe that "128M" isn't enough but I can't add any more pods without
getting "Could not enumerate addresses: No buffer space available"
errors, so I *assumed* there's more to that patch than just the
ReceiveBuffer setting.

[Bug 1913552] Re: using tpm reports "/dev/tpm0: Permission denied"

2021-01-31 Thread André Abrantes
Hi Christian,

I am running this from the 20.04 USB stick again.

Unfortunately, there was nothing on dmesg as I started my guest. And as
expected, editing /etc/apparmor.d/local/abstractions/libvirt-qemu
changed nothing as well.

Another simple test, using tpm-tis also had the same outcome.

Hi,

Now this is from Groovy (which is the best mascot ever BTW) with the
PPA:

2021-01-28 Thread André Abrantes
Hi Christian,

Thanks for the new build. It looks promising. And sorry for saying I was
on 18.04. You were right to assume Focal instead. :-)

This is on Focal with your PPA:

 ~$ sudo qemu-system-x86_64 -nodefaults -S -display none -monitor stdio -tpmdev
passthrough,id=tpm0,path=/dev/tpm0 -device tpm-tis,tpmdev=tpm0

QEMU 4.2.1 monitor - type 'help' for more information
(qemu)

I will now switch to Groovy and test with qemu 1.5.0.

2021-01-27 Thread André Abrantes
Hey,

I was able to reboot my machine and run some tests tonight. From my
side, I am following the template in the following link:
https://github.com/ohthehugemanatee/win10vm. Same company, same
limitations - I am just skipping the networking part for now.

First, your command looks good:

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo qemu-system-x86_64 -nodefaults -S -display none -monitor
stdio -tpmdev passthrough,id=tpm0,path=/dev/tpm0 -device tpm-tis,tpmdev=tpm0
QEMU 5.2.0 monitor - type 'help' for more information
(qemu)

For my VM, I do get past tpm (yey!), but I am stuck on this other issue.
I am attaching the results of the commands bellow with LIBVIRT_DEBUG=1.
Sorry, I am really just guessing that this is the debugging info needed.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ virsh start win10.2
error: Failed to start domain win10.2
error: Could not open TPM device /dev/tpm0: Permission denied

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo virsh start win10.2

Hi Christian,

I can help confirming/testing this. I currently experience this issue on

[Bug 1904189] [NEW] rxvt-unicode flickers

2020-11-13 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open urxvt
2. vim ./file

The first time the file is open, it blinks for a fraction of a second. It
doesn't happen again after closing the file (but not leaving urxvt) and opening
again. If urxvt is closed and then opened again the flicker is seeing when
opening a file with vim for the first time.
This bug was reported upstream
(https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=747633O) with the workaround
to change TERM variable to screen-256color, which introduces another problem:
HOME and END button stop working as intended.

This bug can be fixed by disabling xft when compiling (ie.: ./configure
--disable-xft).

[Bug 1862500] [NEW] Desktop icons are placed off-screen when using multiple monitors

2020-02-09 Thread André Hoek
Public bug reported:

I have 2 monitors connected in "Join Display Mode".
Monitor 1 (secondary) 1366x798, Landscape, 100%
Monitor 2 (primary) 1920x1080, Landscape, 100%

I can see files on the Desktop inside the File Browser, but on the
Desktop icons are either not visible or limited text from one of the
icons can be seen in the top left corner of the secondary monitor.

Screenshots attached.

[Bug 1860306] Re: Linux kernel 5.3.0-26 breaks nvidia driver

2020-01-27 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
I've enable proposed following guidance from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed and tested the kernel 5.3.0-28
(kernel 5.3.0-29 isn't available from that channel).
I confirm Nvidia driver is break by kernel 5.3.0-28 (as much as kernel
5.3.0-26).

I sure can! But I need some direction where to get it. I found this

[Bug 1860306] Re: Linux kernel 5.3.0-26 breaks nvidia driver

2020-01-24 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
As stated here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=309784 the
problem is that "Nvidia 390.116 driver does not have support for the 5.3
kernel, but the newer 390.129 version does".

[Bug 1832963] Re: sound doesn't work

2019-10-30 Thread Claudio André
I installed the latest mainline kernel and it still fails:
- https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.2-rc4/
  - it is linux-image-unsigned-5.2.0-050200rc4-generic
5.2.0-050200rc4.201906091240

The workaround for me is to use the last kernel that works:
```
Linux HP-Notebook 5.0.15-050015-generic #201905101332 SMP Fri May 10 17:34:56
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 19.10
Release:19.10
Codename:   eoan
[Bug 1848313] [NEW] Launcher fails to to fs-uae
2019-10-16 Thread André Geisler
Public bug reported:
fs-uae-launcher is version 2.8.4 (but provides 2.8.3)
fs-uae is version 2.8.4
When trying to start fs-uae from launcher it complains about the wrong version
of fs-uae
(it expects version 2.8.3 not 2.8.4).
I just compiled fs-uae (and launcher) 3.0.0 on own and everything is ok.
So you have to put both packages to the same version (fs-uae-launcher provides
wrong version).
[Bug 1651635] Re: XPS 13 9360 trackpad locks into scroll mode
2019-08-28 Thread André
It's been over a year that I have this Dell XPS 13 9360. And this touchpad
`DLL075B:01 06CB:76AF` with the same issue. I had this issue with both
touchscreen enabled and disabled in the BIOS.
I'm currently on 18.04 and kernel 5.0.0-25-generic.
For my case this issue happens most often soon after unplugging the laptop from
power supply. Usually closing the laptop lid and reopening helps to peace the
issue slightly when coming back to suspend. Another thing that helps is nuking
the touchpad specially right click. I wish modprobing would help too.
Also both scroll lock and mouse jumping around issues happens.
[Bug 237941]
2019-03-11 Thread André Pirard
I'm not sure what "column" you would like and where.
A folder icon would be sufficient in the hit list.
But if one puts in a folder one URL named "folder folder's name (keywords)" to
find, that should be sufficient.
There was a very nice "open parent folder" extension to right click that URL
and open the folder it's in.
But Mozilla killed its developer.
The only thing needed is not killing developers.
[Bug 1799988] Re: Missing wifi and bluetooth after sleep on XPS 9370
2019-03-02 Thread Marc-André Moreau
I am also experiencing the same issue with on a Dell XPS 13 9370 that I
upgraded to 18.04. I added mem_sleep_default=deep to my grub boot
options to workaround the battery drainage when "suspended". Just like
other people, I can't seem to figure out a pattern to reproduce the
issue with 100% certainty. I checked and the BIOS is up to date, and my
wifi firmware is WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00079-QCARMSWPZ-1.
When the problem happens, the only way I can get wifi back is to reboot
or shutdown + boot, sometimes it takes more than one reboot to get wifi
back up. For some reason, a complete shutdown + boot appears to work
better than a simple reboot.
