[Bug 368962] Re: Can't reboot kvm virtual machines using virsh
I understand this isn't severe but in the interests of trying to solve a problem would it be possible to define an element in the XML definition which is equivalent to saying 'This domain supports ACPI'. If this flag is set ( it can default to off) then those who know their domain supports acpi use reboot. Would this be an acceptable change ? If so i could try and implement it .I understand libvirt doesn't / can't have a dtd so the barrier for adding elements is low so long as people are comfortable that this would be a positive change. [Bug 453579] Re: in-place corruption of large files *without fsck or reboot* reported with linux 2.6.31-14.46 on ext4
I think I actually *have* seen this... My setup: Fileserver, 1.5TB array on JFS bunch of big files (videos mostly, some ISO's and the like - but none of these files *ever* change) one client with 400GB internal SATA HDD on ext4, running Karmic with 2.6.31-15-generic AMD64 kernel one client with 1.5TB external USB HDD on ext4, running Karmic with 2.6.31-15-generic i386 kernel I invoke rsync from the clients as rsync -axvc r...@server:/home/some/dir /home/backup-dir on *both* clients, i had to run rsync about 3 times until i no longer saw changes. that is to say that there existed differences in the files even during 2nd rsync, which simply shouldn't be. Also worth noting that another Karmic machine with ext3 and a ppc kernel doesn't see this problem. Ran rsync once, and then the second pass didn't change any files. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what files were corrupt or wrong on the clients after the first sync, they weren't the same between the two clients and there didn't seem to be any correlation between increased size and frequency or anything. The "giantest" files (8 GB's or so) transferred correctly the first time. I've still got this elaborate test set up in place, and I'm *very*VERY* keen to get this worked out so that I can move to Karmic on the server (no way in hell I'm upgrading until this gets sorted out!!!) [Bug 380303] Re: thinkpad-acpi X200 Thinkpad fan fails to spin down .
Well apparently on Vista ( i don't have vista so can't test this ) with the thinkpad drivers the fan doesn't spin up unless the machine gets hot enough. Henrique doesn't really like userspace fan controls from what I understand, however they are useful for testing. I have confirmed that at least on a new Linux kernel you can pretty much go about your business without the fan on at all (at low work loads) for about half and hour before the system heats up to around 40-42 degrees c. After which if you turn on the fan at around 1739 (level 1) it can pretty much cool the system back to 33-35 degrees in a few minutes. When automatically controlled the fan never seems to drop back from 3371 after it has kicked in initially. I can only imagine that running the fan at this pace leads to reduced battery life. -- thinkpad-acpi X200 Thinkpad fan fails to spin down . https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380303 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 348694] Re: Jaunty will not boot on Dell Optiplex 760 unless hpet=disable
I have one of these new Dells as well; same problems here. I don't see a way to make Intrepid usable without disabling acpi completely. (...and losing a CPU.) To answer a question above: a lot of the ICH10 support is fairly new. I'm not convinced that the real problem isn't in Dell's firmware. I have the A02 bios released on 25 February 2009, as, I suspect, does the original reporter. -- Jaunty will not boot on Dell Optiplex 760 unless hpet=disable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348694 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 334052] Re: Network Manager Plasmoid won't connect to "WPA Enterprise" AP's in Jaunty
Per Hermansson, cheers. Your patch allows me to successfully connect to the network at my school. I'll try it at work tomorrow, but I'll bet the "hidden SSID" issue with this plasmoid prevents that from working. ** Attachment added: "Snippet from syslog showing sucessfull association to EAP-PEAP(mschapv2) network." http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24371143/syslog_mschap_working.txt -- Network Manager Plasmoid won't connect to "WPA Enterprise" AP's in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334052 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-widget-network-manager in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

This worked like a champ for me. added the line then regenerated the initramfs, no more problems. [Bug 334052] [NEW] Network Manager Applet has trouble with "WPA Enterprise" AP's in Jaunty
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plasma-widget-network-manager Situation is as follows: I have wireless networks at work and at school that the latest network manager plasmoid won't connect to. I've tried literally every combination of settings in the plasmoid, but still no connection. I am, however, able to connect to simple WPA-PSK networks with the plasmoid. "Disabling DRI in the xorg config eliminates the problem (but also disables all 3D)." This doesn't work for me. [Bug 108527] Re: X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards
I have a PPC g3 ibook 800 which I know is not officially supported, but it uses the ATI 7500 mobility radeon and completely Free drivers (ati don't do ppc ones anyway). I experience this issue too.
