[Bug 835311] [NEW] Does note default to chosen user if selected from indiciator-session menu

2011-08-27 Thread Andy Rogers
Public bug reported:

If you go to choose a different user from the indicator-session menu,
when lightdm reappears it does not choose the user by default who you
want to login is. You have to choose this yourself from the lightdm
user selection screen.

In GDM this behavior happens correctly.

Run a Terminal Session from within gnome and type u1sdtool -q which will
quit the u1 syncdaemon.

[Bug 406466] Re: 2.6.31 - Can't see files in CIFS-mounted directories

2010-02-12 Thread Andy Rogers
Iam really disappointed that this also has not been classed as a bug buy the
server team.
from going from a simply configuration on my fstab of between Januty & Karnic.
//server/mnt /mnt/mountpoint cifs guest 0 0
to
//server/mnt /mnt/mountpointcifs
nounix,noserverino,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,guest  0   0

which is a big change in configuartion especially when this is not
documented really well apart from on this bug report.

I would belive this should be classed as a server papercut for Lucid,
and especially with it being a LTS. I expect there will be quite a few
people using CIFS shares on Hardy who will jump to Lucid, and will not
really know whats happened.

How can we get this reconsidered for a fix for Lucid?

[Bug 406466] Re: 2.6.31 - Can't see files in CIFS-mounted directories

2009-11-24 Thread Andy Rogers
I can also confirm this bug also effects me, I went from having this
line in my fstab:-

//192.168.16.50/share/documents /mnt/documents  cifs guest  0
0

to

//192.168.16.50/share/documents /mnt/documents  cifs
nounix,noserverino,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,guest  0   0

But however now when iam doing a sync between our remote sites with
exactually the same setup instead of 10 sites taking 20 minutes to be
checked this is now taking over an hour using rsync.

Can anyone help me speed this backup? They are all NAS boxes with no
permissions a Buffalo Drivestation.

Thanks

Andy

[Bug 421617] Re: USB Dongle Not Detected Since Upgrade to Network Manager 0.8x

2009-09-27 Thread Andy Rogers
I did try myself with Older Kernels ie 2.6.30 & 2.6.31 latest batch but
this made difference.

It happened originally when the first software update from NM 0.71 to
0.8x came through the repositories.

Reverting back to NM 0.71 does help, but it is not as robust when you
downgrade back to it from 0.8x

[Bug 421617] [NEW] USB Dongle Not Detected Since Upgrade to Network Manager 0.8x

2009-08-30 Thread Andy Rogers
Public bug reported:

Since my laptop has been u[graded from Network Manager 0.71 to 0.8x in
Karmic my Edimax Wiress USB dongle has failed to be picked up by Network
Manager in Gnome.

Before I had no problems with it workling very robostly.

Sometimes it will be picked up and listed in the network manager list,
but 9 times out of 10 it is failed to be picked up.

Down grading back to NM 0.71 does bring it back to life a bit, but is
sitill noto as robost as it was before, it will keep dropping the
connection and failing to reconnect.

In the early stages of the Karmic cycle on Kernel 2.6.31 I reported
another bug which was here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/396417 , but iam
reporting these seperatley as this was since Network Manager got
upgraded.

I have eaited a couple of weeks so see if a fix got released as there
are other Bugs against NM but am filing this now.

Has this been pushed upstream yet for inclusion in time for Alpha 3

I have not seen any mention of this patch included in bug fixes in the

2009-07-15 Thread Andy Rogers
Andy

Thankyou for for looking at this so promptly and identifying the
underlying cause of the problem it seems.

Just one question, are these 2 commits on the rt2x00 likley to be
causing the problems with other brands which use this chipset like
D-Link & Belkin USB Sticks as a couple of people have reported mentioned
similar issues?

Thanks

[Bug 396417] Re: Edimax Wireless USB Dongle Failure Karmic Kernel 2.6.31-X

2009-07-14 Thread Andy Rogers
Andy thanks for the comments.

I can confirm point 1 straight away, there is only 1 RT attached to my
machine which is my USB Wireless device. There are no other wireless
devices intergrated or attached to my laptop.

Point 2 & 3 I shall have to do toinght and report back then.

Thanks

I had tried this originally on rc-1 kernel, but just tried this again &
same results, still got exactly the same problem and same messages in
syslog's.

I did a few restarts and still no difference.

Anything else that could possibly be tried?

[Bug 396417] [NEW] Edimax Wireless USB Dongle Failure Karmic Kernel 2.6.31-X

2009-07-07 Thread Andy Rogers
Public bug reported:

I have been using successfully a Edimax EW-3118Ug USB Wireless Dongle on
my laptop with Jaunty in 2.6.28 Kernel & Karmix Kernel 2.6.30 with no
problems.

However when the Karmic Kernel has been updated to 2.6.31 this no longer
works.

In my syslog I keep getting these messages now:-

Jul  7 06:54:10 ubuntu-advent-laptop kernel: [  100.212036] phy1 ->
rt2500usb_set_device_state: Error - Device failed to enter state 3 (-16).
Jul  7 06:54:10 ubuntu-advent-laptop kernel: [  100.212048] phy1 ->
rt2500usb_set_device_state: Error - Device failed to enter state 4 (-5).

Jul  7 06:54:01 ubuntu-advent-laptop kernel: [   92.062450] phy0 ->
rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x0428
with error -19.
Jul  7 06:54:01 ubuntu-advent-laptop kernel: [   92.062461] phy0 ->
rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x06 failed for

It seems since Karmic was rebasted to Kernel 2.6.31 support seems to
have been ommitted from the latest Kernel.

Please add back.

[Bug 392238] [NEW] No Netboot Install Image Armel ixp4xx Arch - NSLU2

2009-06-25 Thread Andy Rogers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

I have been trying to find the current di-nslu2.din install image for
Karmic for my NSLU2, but looking at the last couple builds of debian-
installer it has not been built since, so it seems that after one Ubuntu
Cycle, support for the NSLU2 has been removed for some reason.

Can support for the NSLU2 ixp4xx please be added back as it was
originally supported in the initial Alpha 1&2 release but no sign since.
