This method of using compiz settings manager itself is flawed. Since
there is a Unity UI Plugin why not convert it to run as preferences
setting in the System settings?

[Bug 893986] Re: Paired Bluetooth headset fails to register with pc on boot

I suspect a problem in bluez being unable to retrieve or read the
pairing PIN code. This bug reported in

 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2011-11/msg00450.html

may be the cause.

[Bug 484390] Re: Ubuntu One don't synchronize Tomboy notes

2010-06-19 Thread Antony John
I would like to reopen this bug. I am facing the same issue and please find my
tomboy app details below:
When I click the Synchronize Notes option it pops up a dialog with message
acquiring sync lock... . Then it fails with message Could not synchronize
notes. Check the details below and try again. The details text box provided
is empty..

I have confirmed that my Tomboy is setup to connect the Service Tomboy Web
pointed to the URL https://one.ubuntu.com/notes;
It had authenticated me through the browser.. (as outlined in the wiki). Now
the controls in the Synchronization Tab in the preferences settings are
disabled and the Connect button says Connected.

I had some notes synchronized couple of days back using Tomboy from
another instance of the OS (I had suffered a crash and reinstalled..)

To make matters worse the online site is displaying an error in the notes
section now.. with the following :
OOPS-ID-1631appserverZBbBEfEGAFIFaEcJIacHbBHBeJdfbGIfb131164 (If required I can
raise a separate bug for this..) The Notes service status on the server is
okay..

Following is my config:
I am running Ubuntu 10.4 with 2.6.32-23-preempt kernel image.

tomboy:
  Installed: 1.2.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.2.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1.2.0-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

Please find my debug log attached. I find a SERVER INTERNAL ERROR being
reported.
Also the client outputted the following errors when I tried opening the
Details panel in Synchronization dialog

(tomboy:13128): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_source_remove: assertion `tag 0'

[Bug 305395] [NEW] Epi Valley SXC 1080 USB CDMA modem not being detected on Ubuntu 8.10 desktop edition

2008-12-04 Thread Antony John
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

I am using a mobile broadband modem (Epi Valley SXC 1080:
http://eng.sungiltel.com/products/sxc-1080.html) provided to me by my ISP: Tata
Indicom (PlugToSurf). There is a connection profile for this ISP already
available in
the nm-applet (0.7) setup wizard.

But the Network manager daemon fails to retrieve data from the USB CDMA Modem
provided to me with the following output.

In the kernel log I am getting the following entries:
Dec 4 16:37:10 xendor kernel: [ 139.164057] usb 3-2: new full speed USB
device using uhci_hcd and address 2

Dec 4 16:37:13 xendor kernel: [ 142.082790] cdc_acm: v0.26:USB Abstract
Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN adapters

And the Daemon Log lists the following entry
Dec 4 16:37:13 xendor NetworkManager: debug [1228388833.425166]
probe_modem(): Couldn't get caps

I think it is because the modem device I am using is not providing a
well formed reply. In such cases which do happen the nm-applet should
allow the user a manual override to do connection setup of device
manually through PPP. I believe in the 0.7 the ability to do this
manually has been removed.

Programs like WVDial meanwhile works perfectly with the device but
unfortunately doesnot integrate with network manager. If the trend is to make
NetworkManager the defacto network setup and management tool, it is mandatory
that the program handle dialup modems perfectly.

[Bug 230980] Re: Unable to use the Manually partition a hard drive (fdisk) option

2008-06-04 Thread Antony John
Unfortunately I dont have the log now. And I cant repeat because the
machine is a work computer. So now I am using OpenSuse on it.

I am facing this problem with the alternates Cd which is supposed to
have a methodology for installing using software raid(dmraid) enabled. I
have tried the manual process using chroot and the Live CD, but it is
pretty long winded and error prone.

When would software raid support on installer happen?

The reason I want to use fdisk is that my system already has a software raid
setup using the Intel software raid (ICH7R) chipset. The mother board is an
ASUS P5W64 WS which has Intel ICH7R support. It also has a Marvell 88SE6145
raid chipset.
I have a WindowsXP install already on the harddisks configured as raid1
stripe set using the Intel ICH7R.

The default hard disk partitioner is failing to detect the software raid
meta data on the disks. I want to enable dmraid support with fdisk

[Bug 218704] Blender application incompatible with Compiz Compositing

2008-04-17 Thread Antony John
The machine config is IBM Thinkpad R50e
This machine has an Intel 855 Video chip and the system is running Xorg-intel.

Also the on quit of application, the screen does not get redrawn
automatically.

The bug does not replicate when the Compiz based compositing is switched
off.
