[Bug 1868551] Re: Intel GPU Hangs : random screen freezing w/ Ubuntu 20.04 (Linux 5.4) i915_active_acquire
Tried the kernel by @lordbaco in #33 and it doesn't improve anything, just in case it's useful. My machine freezes up after a few hours, usually at a point where the fans start to spin up under load. 2-3 times a day. The symptoms are that the cursor starts to lag, massively, and the whole machine gets less and less responsive until it freezes. I didn't have any luck with the kernel in #40 as it wouldn't boot for me. If you have any pointers to booting with it then I'll happily try. I'm not seeing the error messages mentioned by anybody else in this thread. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1868551 Title: Intel GPU Hangs : random screen freezing w/ Ubuntu 20.04 (Linux 5.4) i915_active_acquire To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1868551/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1612241] Re: Display blinking on MST Dual Monitors
This problem appears to be getting worse. The displays are blinking a lot more regularly now, and sometimes both at the same time. Furthermore, the secondary monitor (MST 1.0) which is configured as my secondary screen, will, once per day, blink off, and when it comes back on, the lower 3/4 of the screen is interlaced - i.e. missing every other line. The top 1/4 displays fine, but the picture is offset somewhat, so it's displaying the incorrect part of the screen there. I have to turn the display off in settings, then turn it back on, and then rearrange my monitor layout (they become swapped when this happens) in order to recover it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1612241 Title: Display blinking on MST Dual Monitors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1612241/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1612241] [NEW] Display blinking on MST Dual Monitors
Public bug reported: I have two Dell U2715H monitors, one running in MST 2.0 mode, one running in MST 1.0 mode (the terminator). My laptop is plugged via mini display port into the MST 2.0 enabled monitor. The MST 1.0 monitor is daisychained from displayport out on the MST 2.0 monitor, to the displayport in on the MST 1.0 monitor. I'm using the default cabling provided with the monitors. I am running Ubuntu 16.04 The laptop is a Dell XPS 13 9333 - it is plugged into the mains. Cables are not loose. The setup works almost without issue, but: Actual Result: 1. The monitors take it in turns to blink once - off, then back on, for 4 seconds at a time, seemingly randomly. 2. Any given monitor often blinks off, 4 seconds, then on when pressing play on a youtube video 3. Any given monitor usually blinks off, 4 seconds, then on when dragging a window from the other monitor, onto it. Expected result: Monitors should be constantly on, at all times. [Bug 500069] Re: USB file transfer causes system freezes; ops take hours instead of minutes
This is the single most infuriating bug that I have ever seen in Ubuntu and I've been struggling with it for about 3 years now (before that there was no problem, so anybody saying large files weren't invented back then, is talking crap). How are we supposed to send log files and output for something which doesn't create either? This bug is simple to reproduce. [Bug 245102] [NEW] Corrupt screen after wake up
Public bug reported: I have my computer set to lock the screen after 10 minutes of inactivity. A while after that it turns off the display. Since 3 weeks ago, when I leave it for extended periods, i.e. I go to sleep, on moving the mouse to turn the screen back on and get the unlock dialog, the screen is corrupted, and is in a series of thin, horizontal strips each offset from the one above (like wooden floorboards). It's irrecoverable from this state, and hitting ctrl+alt+backspace to restart X makes it exit X, and hang, displaying only the results of the init scripts which run on startup (i.e. whatever is on the display before Xorg starts). Just a note, are you sure you need 386? How old is your hardware. The reason being is that when I installed Ubuntu 4 years ago my AthlonXP 2000+ bizzarely installed a *-386 kernel. [Bug 189538] Re: db2 update to version 9.5 crashes existing installation
I would like to agree that this is a very serious problem. I use db2 for work and have just encountered (after upgrading to 9.5 as suggested by ubuntu update) all my existing databases not working, I can't reinstall, I can't remove, I'm completely stuck now. [Bug 189538] Re: db2 update to version 9.5 crashes existing installation
Upon installing 9.5 and getting a 'database directory not found' message I immediately tried to remove the package, intending to revert back to the older one. Of course I can't, because of the errors listed above. I'd love to use your method Norbert, but it isn't possible with my system in its current state. -- db2 update to version 9.5 crashes existing installation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189538 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 177152] Users/Accounts Manager - Cannot use Underscores in Account Name
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 7.10 In the Users/Accounts Manager (I don't know the package name, sorry) when you try to add a username with an underscore (Which is valid, our DB2 servers use it and you can add it thru useradd/adduser) it complains that it is not valid. [Bug 160286] Server connections should use : not /
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xchat This is purely an enhancement which I feel will improve the consistency of the operating system which XChat is running upon. Servers are configured as: servername/port whereas 99% of other applications use: servername:port I feel that in consistency terms, this is an unnecessary deviation from the 'norm' which is both confusing for new users, and serves no purpose technically. It wrecks the whole POSIX way in which the output of one command can be piped to the next, for instance it would make difficult populating a server list file from the command line. [Bug 78037] Re: rt2500 wifi cards need to be downed for changing essid
I too would like to confirm this bug and raise it's prio a little higher. I have a Digitus DN-7006GR wireless card. It is not a DN-7006-RA! % lspci | grep Ra 00:08.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2500 802.11g Cardbus/mini-PCI (rev 01) It is based on the rt2500 chipset. I am using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10). The card works fine, except for two things: . NetworkManager finds it, shows signal strength, shows wireless networks, and attempts to connect. It does not connect however. . Manual config (System - Administration - Network) or similar via the console works fine, except it shows signal strength as 0. This is a common chipset and really needs to be fixed by now. It seems the correct code could be obtained by borrowing bits from each method! -- rt2500 wifi cards need to be downed for changing essid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/78037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 41117] Re: Controls do not disappear completely in fullscreen
I too can confirm that this issue is not fixed. Running fully up to date system using nvidia legacy drivers, top and bottom bar which should be black have images of the video controls (which are frozen at the time the controls were supposed to dissappear). This has been an issue for quite a while now - however it used to be perfect.
