Using an external USB wireless adapter, like D-Link DWA110 seems to
work. I'm using it to download wicd to try this workaround:

A possible workaround is to install wicd and wicd-kde, which seems to
work better. You need to stop the network-manager before using wicd-kde.

I confirm the workaround described in #8 but the tradeoff is that it
renders the connection to a sluggish level.

[Bug 1444226] Re: [Kubuntu 15.04 beta] can't connect to wifi with Ralink RT2561/RT61 and NetworkManager

2015-11-28 Thread Ariel Sebastián Becker
I tried the solution proposed in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1442908/comments/4
and it worked. You can use wicd-kde instead wicd-gtk; but, besides that,
you must follow the instructions. Wicd doesn't recognizes automatically
the encryption, so you must try the most common: WEP, WPA (passphrase).

[Bug 1468139] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 drops WLAN/WIFI after running for 5 minutes.

2015-11-27 Thread Ariel Sebastián Becker
I have a Realtek 2561.

I tried putting the line "options rt2500pci nohwcrypt=1" in
/etc/modprobe.d/rt2500pci.conf without success.

Also, tried disabling the power management writing
HOOK_BLACKLIST="wireless" in the /etc/pm/config.d/blacklist; it doesn't
help too.

I think at this moment the only workaround is to install a backport.

Hi. I am using Kubuntu 14.04 and I still see this bug. When I close
rekonq after using at least one tab with some webpage, the rekonq
process remains in background, along with one or more kio_http

must manually kill all the previous processes.

[Bug 1435061] Re: KDE 5 is corrupted, after updating Kubuntu

2015-04-25 Thread Ariel Sebastián Becker
Also, the akonadi failed miserabily, leaving me without my PIM. The
network interfaces, while I can manage to use, are really slow, and
keeps failing within minutes.

The removable storage fails too, randomly, so you can't make a reliable
backup.

And, finally, every configuration in Power Manager is changed.

DON'T UPGRADE TO 15.04 unless you're a tester. You can lose your data.

[Bug 1435061] Re: KDE 5 is corrupted, after updating Kubuntu

2015-04-25 Thread Ariel Sebastián Becker
I upgraded to 15.04 and now I have the following issues:

· I cannot login to KDE desktop in failsafe mode, and is a nightmare to get in
the plasma desktop
· The Network Manager is having random issues: the wifi is disconnecting after
several minutes, so I can't even do a proper aptitude upgrade. I'm having
trouble even to fill this bug report.
· Everytime I login onto the Plasma desktop I get a black desktop, with
apparently nothing on it: if I hover the mouse where the panels are suppose to
be, I get notifications, but this situation is unnaceptable for a release.

I did what Sherif told, also killing some processes in order to get a
workaround to use the desktop.

Really, this situation is unnaceptable. I can't work, and I think I can
barely do an emergency backup to a pendrive in orden to reinstall the
14.10.

Is important to point out that I'm using a 64-bit version of Kubuntu, in
a MSI M670 laptop. I expected some things to be more slower than normal,
but this is ridiculous.

[Bug 1445706] [NEW] Missing import feature in KJots

2015-04-17 Thread Ariel Sebastián Becker
Public bug reported:

Older versions of KJots had a feature to restore or import books exported with
the same app (an useful feature for migrations) but this version doesn't have
it.

OK, this is not serious; I can extract the information from the XML
file, but think about the rookies there.

Also I tried the kjotsmigrator utility but without success.

I've attached a screenshot of the file menu. You can see the export
option, but not any import.

[Bug 1445706] Re: Missing import feature in KJots

It seems that you have to put a .book extension to the file you've
exported before. Then, using the kjotsmigrator tool with the
--interactive parameter, everything goes smooth.

My english is bad, so here's a good reading (PDF): http://docs-
