Hello!, I've been studying this bug and testing the mate github fixes. I've done some testing, and in case you want to only apply that very fix with out moving to the next version, you might want to use this ones. Only the mate-utils patch needed some rework as github changes were applied to a recent release, making the patch fail. Here the zip details from less. this issue was because of the tzdata update, which broke the test case. Editing that one will allow to build. No .iso file on the repo for Hardy Updates. VirtualBox OSE version should be available, not trying to solve with the non-free one.
