Additionally, I can only launch nautilus from the command line, and many
other GNOME apps, such as Photos, also do not open.

It affects me, but I have the package dropbox installed (the package
from Dropbox's website) as opposed to nautilus-dropbox. This  is the
error I get upon entering ONLY the Dropbox folder (every other folder
works fine, but it used to not work at all):

If you upgrade your BIOS to 6.60 while in Windows, it worked for me for a
little while on 13.04, but then I switched to UEFI booting and it stopped.
I can get headphones and audio jack devices to work, but the speakers won't.
