detection to polling
when the screen blacks out and flickering stops if it helps. can someone
explain the terms.

[Bug 1785912]

2019-10-02 Thread Ashish Maknikar
I am having the same flickering problem with my Asus.Kernel is Kernel
Linux 5.0.0-29-generic x86_64. I have a dual boot with windows where the
problem is occurring as well. The flickering in windows lowers down (but
does not stop) from insane levels if I disable the Intel graphics in
display adapters option in Device manager. Any comments?

[Bug 1785912] Re: Horizontal screen flicker Intel UHD graphics 620 (rev 07) Lenovo Ideapad 720s 13IKB 81BV

2019-09-29 Thread Ashish Maknikar
Hey guys ,
Ive got the same flickering issue in both windows and ubuntu. Disabling the
Intel UHD grapics in windows slows down the flickering from insane to a lot.
Meanwhile the flickering is there in ubuntu as well but it suddenly stops after
around 3-5 minutes of usage. Laptop is ASUS K501UW-ab78.

[Bug 1049466] Re: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support

2015-09-05 Thread Ashish Kotnala
PLEASE help me.
I have Ubuntu 14.04.3 installed (kernel 3.19) and could not even get WiFi to
work properly on this shitty card. Stock driver rt2800pci has very poor
performance (very low signal and speed). I have tried installing and
uninstalling ALL dkms packages from here but no success. WiFi disconnects very
frequently and does not connect back again until reboot though when working for
a few minutes works great.
Please help me and provide with a latest patch for WiFi support for RT3290 on
Ubuntu 14.04 (kernel 3.19) or Linux Mint 17.2 (Kernel 3.16).

If anyone could also help me with Bluetooth that would be great. I tried
patch by Alexandre Magno (alexandre-mbm) by building .deb using
Checkinstall but it failed pairing phones.

Here is the patch in bluetooth bug report:

[Bug 1446468] [NEW] rinse broken due to cpio fix for CVE-2015-1197

2015-04-20 Thread Ashish Kulkarni
Public bug reported:

The version of rinse in Vivid is broken due to the fix for CVE-2015-1197
in the "cpio" package. See the upstream comments [1] on how this makes
it mostly unusable and classified as an RC bug for jessie. This was also
unblocked [2] by the release team for jessie.

I recommend that
(1) either the new version should be uploaded before the release, or
(2) the package be removed for the current release

[Bug 683693] Re: tomboy crashed while indenting latex equation

2014-05-08 Thread Ashish Singh
It happened to me when I tried to edit some text within the Latex tag.
The note crashed and closed. Opening the note again did not help as it
kept crashing on open. However, I disabled the plugin, corrected the
latex code and re-enabled the plugin and everything worked like a
charm. I'm really enjoying this add-in to tomboy.

I'm seeing the same bug as well, I've also noticed if I change the font

Sorry actually I reported earlier in that linked but. But that remain
inactive for so long. So thought of creating this in the more relevant
place.

As for your PPA yes it worked. Thanks a lot for solving the issue.
However some glitches in tag icon rendering remains. If it's useful to
you I am including these screen shot here.

[Bug 1088154] Re: LDAP support broken in rpc.idmapd

2012-12-16 Thread Ashish SHUKLA
I'm able to triage this bug, and it seems like the culprit is `conf_*`
functions present in conffile.c (nfs-utils), which are also present in
cfg.c (libnfsidmap2), and due to runtime linking, `conf_*` present in
`rpc.idmapd` executable (nfs-utils) takes precedence over the `conf_*`
functions present in `/lib/libnfsidmap.so.0` due to symbol search order,
and therefore complicating configuration parsing.

The diff attached marks the `conf_*` functions, present in `conffile.c`
which seem to conflict with functions present in `cfg.c`, as `static`,
and therefore fixing the conflict.

For the record, I'm running `Ubuntu Precise`.

Thanks

[Bug 1088154] [NEW] LDAP support broken in rpc.idmapd

2012-12-09 Thread Ashish SHUKLA
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm trying to use LDAP support in rpc.idmapd, and I get following
errors:

% tail -6 /var/log/daemon.log
Dec  9 10:18:53 bk0-srv rpc.idmapd[24360]: libnfsidmap: using domain: domain.tld
Dec  9 10:18:53 bk0-srv rpc.idmapd[24360]: libnfsidmap: Realms list:
'DOMAIN.TLD'
Dec  9 10:18:53 bk0-srv rpc.idmapd[24360]: libnfsidmap: processing 'Method' list
Dec  9 10:18:53 bk0-srv rpc.idmapd[24360]: umichldap_init: Missing required
information: LDAP_server LDAP_base
Dec  9 10:18:53 bk0-srv rpc.idmapd[24360]: libnfsidmap: Failed in
/lib/libnfsidmap/umich_ldap.so's init(), returned -1
Dec  9 10:18:53 bk0-srv rpc.idmapd[24360]: libnfsidmap: requested translation
method, 'umich_ldap', is not available

Following is idmapd.conf(5):

% cat /etc/idmapd.conf
[General]

Verbosity = 10
Pipefs-Directory = /run/rpc_pipefs
Domain = domain.tld
# set your own domain here, if id differs from FQDN minus hostname
# Domain = localdomain

[Translation]

Method = umich_ldap, nsswitch

[UMICH_SCHEMA]

LDAP_server = ldap.domain.tld
LDAP_base = dc=domain,dc=tld

[Mapping]

Nobody-User = nobody
Nobody-Group = nogroup

I'm not sure why rpc.idmapd complains about lack of LDAP_server,
LDAP_base keys when they're present in the corresponding section
("UMICH_SCHEMA")

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1050735] [NEW] setting the dns server has no effect on resolv.conf

2012-09-13 Thread Ashish
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I use Mobile Broadband and want to use open dns servers. I set those
addresses in "network connections", by setting "Automatic (PPP)
addresses only" and entering addresses in " DNS servers:" input field.
But after connecting resolv.conf has addresses set by the network
provider not the DNS servers set in settings.

[Bug 1035847] [NEW] Kernel lets cpu getting heated up to the point of power-off

2012-08-12 Thread Ashish
Public bug reported:

I have an acer aspire 5002lwnmi laptop which has a amd processor. Though
the processor has ability to run on low frequency. During high load the
kernel let it run on high frequency untill it crosses the threshhold to
get power off. While the better would be to put it on low frequrency to
get it cool down a bit.
