[Bug 1446468] [NEW] rinse broken due to cpio fix for CVE-2015-1197

2015-04-20 Thread Ashish Kulkarni
Public bug reported:

The version of rinse in Vivid is broken due to the fix for CVE-2015-1197
in the "cpio" package. See the upstream comments [1] on how this makes
it mostly unusable and classified as an RC bug for jessie. This was also
unblocked [2] by the release team for jessie.

I recommend that
(1) either the new version should be uploaded before the release, or
(2) the package be removed for the current release

[Bug 85488] Re: Canon Lide25 (plustek backend) scanner does not scan via gui

2007-05-03 Thread Ashish Kulkarni
Ok, I rebuilt the kernel on AMD64 without USB_SUSPEND, and everything
works OK (mine is not a scanner problem, but another device altogether
-- see bug #110806). If someone wants it, I will post it.

Of course, as I didn't build the linux-restricted-modules package (which
requires 150MB of source download!!) my nVidia driver stopped working,
which is OK as I can live with the open source driver.

If someone DOES want that, you can follow the instructions at

If the Ubuntu devs cannot post an "official" update as it would break
laptop users, can someone post updated non-official kernel packages with
USB_SUSPEND disabled?

[Bug 110806] Re: USB device intermittently disconnects after upgrading to feisty

2007-04-28 Thread Ashish Kulkarni
Okay, I did some googling and found the problem:

http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/1/14/90

The problem seems to be the kernel config CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND=y

Apparently, this is a known problem upstream.

[Bug 110806] Re: USB device intermittently disconnects after upgrading to feisty

2007-04-28 Thread Ashish Kulkarni
See http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7828 for more details.

I can confirm that if I try to access it within 2 seconds of it being
connected, it works. After two seconds, the USB_SUSPEND functionality
causes it to hang up and reconnect.

[Bug 110806] USB device intermittently disconnects after upgrading to feisty

2007-04-28 Thread Ashish Kulkarni
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

I have a REB 1100 device. After upgrading to feisty, it doesn't work
properly. When I try to access it via rebcomm, it tells me that it is
not on the device bus. When I look at the dmesg, it shows that it has
been disconnected and reconnected (although it was never physically
disconnected.

[Bug 55424] [dapper] Sound recorder creates duplicate items in the "Record from input" dropdown

2006-08-06 Thread Ashish Kulkarni
Public bug reported:

Dapper 6.06 AMD64

Package Version: gnome-media 2.14.2-0ubuntu1

Sound recorder creates duplicate entries for all sources in the "Record
from input" dropdown.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start sound recorder
2. Select any input
3. Click on record, wait a few seconds and then click on stop
4. Observe that dropdown list is OK
5. Click on record, wait a few seconds and then click on stop
6. The dropdown list has duplicate items for all sources.

This is probably because the dropdown needs to be cleared before adding
the sources to it.
