[Bug 1067712] [NEW] incorrect description of the arguments

2012-10-17 Thread B.J. Stobiecki
Public bug reported:

A man page about xtitle writes that:

  -v, --verbose
Quiet mode. Doesn't report the settings performed.

Which is obviously misleading.

Also, the real --quiet argument (listed in the man's command summary as -q) is
not really supported by the script.
What's even more misleading is that the script itself describes that argument
when invoked with --help

Hence, there's severe difference in what xtitle can do and what it says
it can ;-)

I've attached a strace if anyone finds it useful for debugging. The

[Bug 740090] Re: Bluetooth dongle requires restart of bluetooth service

2011-04-30 Thread B.J. Stobiecki
This also affects my Amilo Si 1520 32-bit machine. Restarting the
bluetooth daemon does the trick. People complain about that on
alt.os.linux.ubuntu newsgroup as well.

The problem began during the upgrade from Maverick to Natty, as probably
some new package makes the whole mess...

[Bug 571665] Re: [needs-packaging] ttytter

2010-04-29 Thread B.J. Stobiecki
Working version is hosted at my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~bjfs/+archive/ppa although I'm not sure about the
license for packaging. Original source is a single file, so I've added
files which are standard for a Perl package, I think...

2010-04-05 Thread B.J. Stobiecki
The same happened on my Ubuntu Studio 10.04, the quick fix provided by
embecka works. I had to dpkg-reconfigure --force ubuntustudio-plymouth-
theme using that method with recent
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/u/ubuntustudio-look
/ubuntustudio-look_0.38.2.tar.gz source. No problems with upgrading
ubuntustudio-look now...

[Bug 459162] Re: karmic shutdown error on inspiron 1525

2009-10-30 Thread B.J. Stobiecki
Same here after upgrade to 9.10 from 9.04 on FSC Amilo Si 1520 (Wubi on
Vista). Fortunately the system can be powered off (well, at least forced
to do so). But the software rebooting doesn't work for me, I/O errors
after the swap part...
