[Bug 969121] Re: Cannot boot Live CD with Nvidia GTX 550Ti

2012-04-24 Thread B1ackcr0w
Many Thanks germulvey.

While technically this does not fix the bug. It has triaged it for me to
the point I have a working system.

I shall post in the related Ubuntu Forum threads this as a possible
short term measure to bypass the impasse the bug causes on installation.

I agree with Ilja that this is a workaround not a fix though.

[Bug 969121] [NEW] Cannot boot Live CD with Nvidia GTX 550Ti

2012-03-30 Thread B1ackcr0w
Public bug reported:

Experience same problem with 11.10 and Precise Beta.

Have tested this on AMD Athhlon II and Intel Sandybridge systems using
built in GFX, Radeon HD 6450, nvidia 9800 GTX and the 550ti in order to
isolate the card as the problem.

Live CD will not boot into x-server Using Nvidia GTX 550Ti card. Boot
only suceeds to console based section of boot and then hangs with no
error message. Card is operating fine with previously installed Xubuntu
11.10 with Proprietary Nvidia drivers.

[Bug 583036] [NEW] Cannot escape from Boot time Disk Check

2010-05-19 Thread B1ackcr0w
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plymouth

Using Lucid i386 Desktop. Problem happens when normal boot is
interrupted for regular disk check.

I get the message Press C to escape Disk Checks in progress.

Pressing C does not interrupt the disk check. Pressing C has no effect
at all. I have not found a workaround, there seems to be no option but
to allow disk check to finish. A forced shutdown does not work, at next
boot the check just starts again.

If check is left to finish, normal boot resumes with no other problems
aparent.

[Bug 583036] Re: Cannot escape from Boot time Disk Check

2010-05-19 Thread B1ackcr0w
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 571707 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571707

I think this bug is related to 57107, but is separate to it. 57107 is
focussed of the speed of the disk check whereas my report was concerned
with the fact that the disk check cannot be cancelled once it has
started. if the two issues are caused by the same thing then this is a
duplicate. But i filed this in case 57107 gets fixed but you still can't
escape the disk check

I found a couple of pages on the net that might help

http://fingergeeks.wordpress.com/2009/06/17/configure-bsnl-evdo-datacard-on-ubuntu/

If neither of those two sort you out, then let us know and we'll put you in
touch with the Support Forums and IRC channels.

Cheers,

connection (dialup) in 8.10 intrepid

Pl. help me in installing BSNL EVDO USB data card on ubuntu 8.10 which I've
installed on my HP pavilion laptop. I've downloaded zte driver from
www.ztemt.com. But, unfortunately the ztemt software doesn't detect the modem
though it is attached. During installation of the software it gives an error
insmod: error inserting 'ztemt.ko': -1 invalid module format. I've tried the
to install the software using dpkg -i ztemt. .deb.

Status in Ubuntu Documentation hardy series: New
Status in “ubuntu-docs” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released

Bug description:
Documentation for Internet Modem setup in 8.10 Intrepid Ibex is invalid. There
is no Network tab available in System-Administration.
As a result, those of us who are unable to connect to the internet through a
DSL or Cable Modem are unable to access the internet. Additionally, previous
releases do not allow upgrading with the 8.10 Intrepid Ibex distribution or
alternate distribution CDs so I was unable to determine if the Network tab
would remain available after upgrading the system.

Installing Gnome-system-tools does not fix the missing tab problem in
the operating system. And, the missing tab problem is not isolated to a
single distribution. I have done clean installs of all available
distributions of 8.10 Intrepid and none provide the necessary
System-Administration-Network tab to enable users to configure a
modem.

[Bug 477050] Re: Fresh Install of Karmic, Boot ends with Kernel Panic

2009-12-21 Thread B1ackcr0w
I did some work with some folk from #ubuntu and we found a few things
out about this bug.

My problem is with the 32bit PAE kernel. We looked closely at the panic
message and it suggested a problem with PAE. So we installed Karmic
again with network disconnected. It seems Ubiquity decided i'd be better
off with PAE during install, downloads it and installs it. With network
disconnected it has to default to generic kernel and installs and boots
without incident.

People in #ubuntu were suggesting I file a bug against Ubiquity, however
I think it's doing what it was designed to do?

[Bug 493382] Re: cant set background to space pictures on netbook remix

2009-12-08 Thread B1ackcr0w
I have 9.10 UNR running on an Acer Aspire One AO110. And have exactly
the same issue. When selecting the space set, the previous background I
had selected, remains selected, but is squashed vertically so it only
occupies the middle 3rd of the screen. Will post screen shot tonight to
illustrate problem. I can be on freenode for testing and hacking if
required.

[Bug 408424] [NEW] Local Folder Sync used with Ubuntu One - Remote note deletion causes crash

2009-08-03 Thread B1ackcr0w
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

Using Ubuntu Desktop 9.04 on desktops and Mint 7 (9.04) on netbooks and
laptops.

Tomboy version listed as 0.14.0

I have opened a directory in my Ubuntu One folder for syncing Tomboy
notes with Local Sync. Everything works fine unless I want to delete a
note on one machine. The next time any of the other machines try to sync
to their local folder, one of the files is missing and Tomboy fails.
Using Debug mode, Tomboy seems to fail because a note listed in the
manifests is missing. Rather than update the manifest, Tomboy fails to
sync.

[Bug 382246] [NEW] No playback until phonon-backend-xine is installed - Dependancy?

2009-05-31 Thread B1ackcr0w
Public bug reported:

Amarok 2.0.2 will not playback media until phonon-backend-xine is
installed.

Using 9.04 Jaunty.

The package is not listed as a dependancy of amarok. I don't know
Whether it should be or not. However I have seen several reports in
launchpad questions and on IRC that this fault can be reproduced and at
least triaged by installing the xine backend.
