[Bug 1966238] Re: progress during dpkg-deb build
By a quick glance zstd _compression_ is still single threaded. Switching it to be multi-threaded may help with the timeout. [Bug 1914044] Re: [SRU] gstreamer fails with "cannot allocate memory in static TLS block" error on aarch64
This fix proved to be too intrusive to be released via focal-updates. It requires an immediate restart of services and a reboot which can't be guaranteed if the fix is included in a later update released into the focal-security pocket. I'm preparing 2.31-0ubuntu9.4 _without_ this fix but including other fixes which are safe to release to Focal. [Bug 1928856] [NEW] Please update to upstream release 20210429.00
Public bug reported: [Impact] Google-compute-engine-oslogin is provided by Google for installation within guests that run on Google Compute Engine. It part of the collection of tools and daemons originally packaged as gce-compute- image-packages, that ensure that the Ubuntu images published to GCE run properly on their platform. Cloud platforms evolve at a rate that can't be handled in six-month increments, and they will often develop features that they would like to be available to customers who don't want to upgrade from earlier Ubuntu releases. As such, updating google-compute-engine-oslogin to more recent upstream releases is required within all Ubuntu releases, so they continue to function properly in their environment. [Test Case] When a new version of google-compute-engine-oslogin is uploaded to -proposed, the following will be done: * an image based on -proposed will be built for GCE and published to the ubuntu-os-cloud-devel project * the CPC team will write new automated tests to cover new testable functionality (if any) in the new package * the automated testing that the CPC team normally runs against GCE images before they are published will be run against the -proposed image * the GCE team will be asked to validate that the new package addresses the issues it is expected to address, and that the image passes their internal image validation. If all the testing indicates that the image containing the new package is acceptable, verification will be considered to be done. [Other Information] This bug is used for tracking of releasing the new upstream version for all supported series, as per the approved policy mentioned in the following MRE: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/gce-compute-image-packages-Updates. ** Affects: google-compute-engine-oslogin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928856 Title: Please update to upstream release 20210429.00 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-compute-engine-oslogin/+bug/1928856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1926660] Re: autopkgtests fail due to new update-motd snippet
@laney Sorry, I have not seen your comment #8 before writing mine. I did consider writing an autodep8 test, but it seemed to be overkill due the small amount of packages to use it. Now with the appearance of this bug I've reconsidered that and autodep8 would be better to ensure good coverage than the apt-file based check. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1926660 Title: autopkgtests fail due to new update-motd snippet To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-motd/+bug/1926660/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1926660] Re: autopkgtests fail due to new update-motd snippet
@paelzer I've uploaded update-motd adding ubuntu-advantage-tools as a test dependency, because it is accidental that it is already installed on test images. The apt-file check is not ideal, because it lists packages which are in -proposed but pinning does not allow them to be installed. As a mitigation I've retried all affected tests with ubuntu-advantage-tools also added as a trigger. The apt-file results could be filtered by taking pinning into consideration, but this would not be perfect easily either, thus I think it is not worth it. Yes, SRU-ing a test-only fix is not ideal either. The tests are there to ensure that update-motd scripts can be run as a normal user which is done on WSL: https://balintreczey.hu/blog/introducing-show-motd-message- of-the-day-for-wsl-and-container-shells/ .
