I am having the same problems, but is surely not a problem of ubuntu. Debian 
Squeeze with 3.2.0 backports kernel and 2.6.32 Kernel is having exactly the 
same problems I am using UEFI Bios 1.5. I have already contacted the asrock 
support, but no answer except
the received reply. Very disappointing!

it would be nice if you could explain how you compiled the Ralink-driver.
Which pakets are needed? kernel-headers, build-essential?
(currently I am using xubuntu Hardy Heron 8.0.4.1)
