[Bug 778200] Re: [CA0106 - CA0106, playback] No sound at all
If the card is set in the sound preferences or not doesn't really matter in regard to this problem because you don't event get sound if you do the speaker test in the sound settings (which should always work regardless of what card is set as default). This should also be related to bug #766500 Using the onboard card isn't a suitable workaround - at least in my case - because then I won't have 5.1. But the onboard card seems to be connected to the problem because everybody I've seen having this problem (in there various bugs here in the bug tracker and also in the Answers-section) seems to have more than just the Soundblaster soundcard in his PC. Also don't understand how this problem should be related to reverse engineering the protocol because the card worked up until a certain point, so the protocol had to be correct. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778200 Title: [CA0106 - CA0106, playback] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/778200/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 778200] Re: [CA0106 - CA0106, playback] No sound at all
Has anyone already checked if it could be related to One quirky (but permanent) workaround is to enable the old oss modules, specifically the 100% sound blaster compatible module (sb). You don't have to load the oss modules. The alsa module snd-ca0106 works fine somehow if the old sb module is compiled in the kernel as a module (no white noise). http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Vendor-Creative_Labs meaning if maybe this module got removed from the kernel?

[Bug 615859] Re: Select windows when the mouse moves over them is incompatible with global menu bar
Wouldn't an option to disable the global menubar (as suggested in bug #734325) be the better solution? Focus follows mouse is and has ever been an integral part of using a graphical environment in Linux. I agree that most of the switchers probably don't use it but don't let forget that this was was the default behavior of most window mangers in the past. (And last I looked Ubuntu still was a Linux derivate, not a MacOS X clone.) Another point for making the global menubar disableable is that while it may be good to have the menu always at the same position it definitely increases the mouse paths which can also be quite counterproductive. (At least with a decent screen.) And yes, I know the global menubar can be disabled by removing libappmenu.so, but an config option would be a cleaner way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/615859 Title: Select windows when the mouse moves over them is incompatible with global menu bar -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
