In release 14.04 emacs24 has a cosmetic bug in the toolbar display. The
theme does not apply properly, leaving an ugly stripe. This is not
present in previous Ubuntu releases.

I have attached an image of the problem.

This issue obviously does not affect performance in any way.

When installing version 7 of openjdk, lots of GNOME 2 dependencies are
pulled in along with it. This clutters up a system with obsolete
libraries.

The problem is not present in openjdk-6.

This affects me. I never had a problem with any previous release, only
in Intrepid. The graphics card is an nvidia 6600GT.

It is reproduced every time I move the mouse over the title bar.

Changing the window border style from Human to Clearlooks fixes the
problem.

This bug is still present in the current gutsy build. All video has the
wrong aspect ratio unless the monitorpixelaspect=1 setting above is
used.

This problem doesn't occur in the newest upstream version of mplayer.

That's correct. I get a busy pointer after trying to proceed beyond the
migration screen, which never goes away. There is no installation of
Vista on the drive, just XP (one partition is NTFS).

Oddly, if I run 'ubiquity --debug' rather than just clicking on the
icon, it goes past the stalling screen without a problem - I have tried
this twice. I rebooted and tried the standard way of installing again
and it froze in the same place (that's now four attempts with the same
result).

I've uploaded /var/log/syslog from trying to install the normal way.

This is a problem for me still in Feisty - using an Nvidia 6600GT card
and a Samsung 710T monitor. The resolution is set to 1024x768 despite
the native resolution being 1280x1024 and cannot be set higher without
hacking the xorg.conf file. Other distributions (Fedora, Suse, etc) pick
the correct resolution.

The version included in Edgy (1.4.3) doesn't have this problem, though I
can also confirm it affects the 1.4.5 version for Edgy.

I guess it could be an upstream problem, since the burn option works

Choose English as the language, UK English as the keyboard setting.

KDE locale is set to 'default' with US English settings. This can be
changed manually, though it's not very polished or user-friendly to have
to do that.

System locale is set to en_US.UTF-8

Under Gnome Ubuntu (Edgy) live CD install, system locale is set to
en_GB.UTF-8.

This problem did not occur in Kubuntu Dapper.

on kdebase-kio-plugins. This is required for the dbus functionality.
Without it you cannot use media devices with amarok.

Manually installing kdebase-kio-plugins also pulls in libdbus-qt-1-1c2,
which is also needed.
