[Bug 189763] [NEW] First login doesn't work, second does
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: Hardy Heron, alpha-4. I installed this distribution on sda2, with Gutsy on sda1. Swap is on sda3, /home is shared on sda4. I use a 915 Intel chipset (Compaq DC 7100), with the usual suspects (sound, LAN, video) integrated. Running the LiveCD went fine, including 22 screen. Installation ran very smooth. During startup, immediately after GRUB, an AppArmor message appears, which I cannot read that fast. The login screen appears, also in correct resolution. It seems to recognize my login, and starts working on it. Failsafe doesn't work, failsafe terminal does give me a terminal. As this is not a production machine, as recommended :), I will keep this distro in its current state. If there are any logfiles that I could attach to this report, please give me a note. [Bug 150980] Re: Window disappears while moving them between workspaces
I have exactly the same. Running compiz as well. The window does not exactly disappear with me, but rather keeps moving from workspace to workspace, as if it is running 'one workspace in front of the current one'. Example might help: Suppose I have 4 workspaces, and I have Firefox running on workspace 1. I make it 'always on top'. Afterwards, I select 'move to workspace 2'. When I then select to show workspace 2, I see the preview of FF move to workspace 3. [Bug 147820] Re: testing 1280x800 on Aspire hangs
Here's the requested attachment. Most importantly, I can't press the 'Test' button anymore, so it doesn't hang. The system is currently fully up-to-date. However, selecting 'LCD Panel 1280x800' only yields normal resolution monitors. Checking the 'widescreen' check solves this, but a 1280x800 is widescreen anyway, so why the check? More generally, selecting 'generic' monitors, either 16:9 or 3:4, and selecting the 'wrong' widescreen check yields unpredictable results: mixed widescreen and non-widescreen resolutions, or an empty resolution list, for example. ** Attachment added: parse-edid http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9979291/parse-edid -- testing 1280x800 on Aspire hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147820 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 147820] testing 1280x800 on Aspire hangs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I have an Acer Aspire 5612WLMi, with Intel GMA950. The screen had a couple of issues (only 1024x768) with the screen, but this disappeared in Feisty, after installing 915resolution. It seems that the developers, with Gutsy, tried to incorporate this screen in Ubuntu itself. In the System - Administration - Screen and Graphics window, I tried to work that out. First, it appears that it recognizes the the GMA945 graphics accelerator, and uses an experimental version of the software for this card. Scond, I tried to set the screen to (PnP - 1280x800). Doesn't work: it tries to test it, gives a screen that reminds of linux in the 90's, and when you click 'get to the old resolution', it hangs.
