However I did not succeed to test this as I did not manage to install it. This is probably since I am not familiar with using PPAs. I did: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cjsmo/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Among other things, all seems normal and working too me except your package does not come out of the void. Can I force it to be selected, listed or something? Thanks for looking at this. I will check out the possible duplicate bug report and come back with my take on that. The rest of the logs are posted. Other than that, the system is somewhat messed up it seems, The thing I have on top of my list to fix now is Postfix + dovecot that is broken with errors related to SASL. I have to take it bit by bit as I have time. No big time rush, but it would be nice to figure a fast track if possible. ** Attachment added: system_state http://launchpadlibrarian.net/47074782/system_state.tar.gz -- Kubuntu upgrade from 9.10 to 10.4 failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 572790] Re: Kubuntu upgrade from 9.10 to 10.4 failed
bug 565407 is he same problem that possibly triggered the effect on the upgrade that I have reported. I certainly had that problem during the upgrade, and even if I can not remember off the top of my head, I think I have run the installer for ATI not the deb package. The stuff I had to get cleaned up vas in /usr/share/ati anyway. Then I ran the installer. However, I do not think I am willing to agree this is a duplicate of 565407. If you read my description, I am not reporting the fact tha ATI driver did not install. I report the fact that the upgrade behaved rather funny and left me with a broken system. 1. start upgrade did a lot of stuff 2. report a problem (the fglrx failure) - I continued upgrade did a lot of stuff again 3. report that the upgrade had failed and left my system unstable (my interpretation at this point was the the upgrade would be rolled back) - I continued ... upgrade did some work (short time) 4. reported that the upgrade was complete ?? What does this mean? -- Kubuntu upgrade from 9.10 to 10.4 failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: postgresql-8.3 package postgresql-8.3 8.3.8-0ubuntu9.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 The automatic security upgrade failed to be installed. I got some sudo confirm password popup screens 2 or 3 password was already confirmed so this was odd. I don't really know if that was related to the package that failed to install or some of the other package. Olso one popup dialog reported the postgresql failure and a line with bullet saying the server failed to start. I expected the automatic security upgrade to install with no failures.
