[Bug 908769] [NEW] battery-status package does not work in 11.10
Public bug reported: Hi, In Ubuntu 11.04 I was using battery-status indicator from ppa:iaz /battery-status. This indicator is much better than the default one since it incorporates both battery status and CPU throthling settings (on demand, performance, conservative, etc...) all in one. Unfortunately, there package for 11.10 (ppa:iaz/battery-status-devel) does not install due to below error: battery-status : Depends: python-gnomeapplet but it is not installable Even if I download the .deb and install manually using dpkg and ignoring dependencies (sudo dpkg --ignore-depends=python-gnomeapplet -i battery- status_0.1.2~bzr32~oneiric1_all.deb), when I try to run it (battery- status --indicator) I get the below error: ImportError: No module named gnomeapplet Any chance this can be fixed? I see and thanks... [Bug 789852] [NEW] Nautilus Actions version included in 11.04 is buggy: please upgrade to 3.1.2
Public bug reported: Dear all, Ubuntu 11.04 currently ships with Nautilus Actions version 3.0.5-1. However, this version has some issues which have been solved by newer versions. In particular, I have experienced this issue: http://mailman .nautilus-actions.org/pipermail/users-list/2011-May/16.html, which according to Nautilus Actions authors has been fixed in v3.1.2. How to reproduce the issue in Ubuntu 11.04: 1) Install package nautilus-actions 2) Confirm installed version is 3.0.5-1 3) Create executable shell script /bin/show_params.sh with below contents: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/zenity --info --text=$* 4) Open Nautilus Actions Configuration, and create an action that runs the command show_param.sh with parameters=%F 5) In Nautilus, right click a file with a space in the file name, and select the action you created in step #4 6) In the popup dialog you will see that space is converted to %20 (percent 20). As you can easily guess, applications expect to receive or \ when there is a space, not %20, so they give file not found errors. Same problem here in Maverick (10.10). [Bug 65573] Re: Screen Refresh issues with SiS 760
Actually Thomas Winischhofer explains this problem here http://www.winischhofer.eu/linuxsispart1.shtml#21 First politic Pretty simple: SiS is unfortunately one of those companies that do not support Linux or X.org/XFree86. They don't (and will not) release any documentation on their products (with a few exceptions) and write drivers only for Microsoft's DOS-extensions (called Windows by many people; and yes, Windows is a trademark). Although they have released XFree86 drivers previously and have released a (binary) driver for the SiS650 in the past, these are and were heavily buggy and not developed any further from a certain point. In other words: Their XFree86 drivers are useless. If you have a notebook, you don't even need to consider trying them. Then technics and comparison to windaube My advice: Don't buy a machine with a SiS760 unless this machine has dedicated local video memory. And please don't complain about driver bugs if you see flashing lines on the screen; these are the typical effects of a bandwidth problem and unavoidable - even the Windows driver can't do better. In such cases, reduce the resolution and/or refresh rate and/or color depth, or use one output (CRT1 or CRT2) only. Sorry, can't help it. There is no driver bug involved. For poor Averatec 6240 users: My drivers at least allow 1280x800 on the LCD if the external monitor is enabled... the Windows driver kicks you back to 1024x768 in such a case. In conclusion down the depth, the resolution or the refresh rate. -- Screen Refresh issues with SiS 760 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/65573 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

No it did not help as I was with kubuntu. However the bug was precisely this one. And the analoguous of what was explained by Niels Kristian Bech Jensen did the job. [Bug 68132] (K)ubuntu RC on imac G5 rev A: no keyboard
Public bug reported: Hello, It is 18 month that I try to use (k)ubuntu on my imac G5 rev A. I tried the Release Candidate - released October 19th 2006. Two issues: - I cannot use the keyboard. Nothing works I tried French and Engish configuration but none of the tuch does something. It does not recognize the keyboard (my keyboard is the classic imac usb one). - no fan support (it turns fast), Also - The (k)ubuntu logo at the login (when it boots) has ugly colors. However the sound works... And xorg is OK at the login screen. Please. [Bug 46699] Re: Dapper Release Canidate fails to boot on iMac G5
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 23445 *** For me the sound was the issue too. Knowing that I managed to log in the graphic interface (but the fan go fast which is a different problem). An other way than the one suggested by Ludovic (easier for people who are not familiar with vi): at the log choose terminal session then start x (type startx as root). You have now the x interface in which you can make the corrections. Could someone precise what are the corrections we have to make under Kubuntu. Here /etc/gdm/gdm.conf has to be replaced by /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc. I don't agree with you Mark. (1) I tried ubuntu 6.06 on a imacG5 (quite recent. unfortunately I cannot precise which version). The bluetooth worked (and communicated with the palm) and the micro$oft three-button mouse worked too. (2) BUT on the iMac G5 1.8 GHz/17 M9843 ubuntu freezes (see above). [Bug 46699] Re: Dapper Release Canidate fails to boot on iMac G5
Hi I have the same problem. And I had the same problem with Breezy and the 6.06Beta (ubuntu had never worked on my imac). I was at an install party ubuntu on saturday in Paris with a lot of geeks. I am now able to say a bit more: - First the desktop-ubuntu works perfectly (even bluetooth) under imac G5 rev c. - BUT it does not work with iMac G5 1.8 GHz/17 M9843. I tried the desktop and the alternate cd (both in normal install and powerpc64 specific install). Evreytime the same problem: while loading the modules the color of the kubuntu's sign is ugly (not the blue one wich appears usually). Then arrive time to login. The system freezes while initializing peripheals. I also tried without starting X but after a couple of seconds (perhaps 20) the system freezes.
