[Bug 1769383] Re: Ubuntu dock/launcher is shown on the lock screen

2018-10-31 Thread Bogdan Radu
I still see this as well. I also notice that when hovering over the bar
after this starts happening, it resizes by a few px.

It also results in things like remmina no longer populating it OR the
top bar with its icons.

I do have gnome-tweaks installed, and seems that the resizing issue goes
away when I start it up and change the hinting mode.

[Bug 986722] Re: Can't browse MTP device starting with Android 4 (e.g. Galaxy Nexus) with gmtp

2012-11-12 Thread Bogdan Radu
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 903422 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903422

Confirmed with 12.10, newest update.
mtp-files, mtp-folders, mtp-detect take abnormally long to work, and you can't
browse anywhere in the GUI itself, as the device just times out.

gmtp also takes forever, and times out/errors out or produces garbage
before disconnecting.

Can we get some traction on this, seeing as many people are running into
this snag (this was brought to my attention by a co-worker who's just
trying Ubuntu for the first time).

This is affecting real people, and it is a dealbreaker for him.

[Bug 567075] Re: Origami unable to connect to servers

2012-01-03 Thread Bogdan Radu
A continuation to #9 (and to help people in case the linked site dies),
tested on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit.

Step 1: Download and install Origami as you usually would (you may or may not
need ia32-libs also installed, YMMV)
Step 2: Stop Origami from running (sudo origami stop)
Step 3: Download the latest Linux F@H binary from their official site
(http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download)
Step 4: Move the fah6 executable into /var/lib/origami/foldingathome/CPU1/fah6
(overwriting the original)
Step 5: Change the permissions of the file as follows: sudo chmod 711
/var/lib/origami/foldingathome/CPU1/fah6
Step 6: Change the ownership of the file as follows: sudo chown origami:nogroup
/var/lib/origami/foldingathome/CPU1/fah6
Step 7: Restart the Origami Client (sudo origami start)

From looking at my log file, it goes through a few update cycles of
FahCore_a3 before finally settling down and processing away, so give it
~5-10 minutes before getting worried about it not working.

You can check the log file itself at
/var/lib/origami/foldingathome/CPU1/FAHlog.txt

[Bug 878919] Re: regular kernel panic on Ubuntu 11.10

2011-12-07 Thread Bogdan Radu
The workaround Philippe Nael wrote (comment #17) works for me. I went
from getting a kernel panic within 5 minutes of going into battery mode
to not getting it for the duration of my Eee 1000HE's battery life (so,
hours)
