[Bug 209380] [NEW] kmplot-kde4 crashes if you try to plot 2 parametric functions at the same time

2008-03-30 Thread Brent N. Stephens
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kmplot-kde4

Easily repeatable. Just plot a parametric function, and then try to do
another. It crashes as soon as I press new--parametric function.

** Affects: kdeedu-kde4 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 179046] Re: texhash should include user's home directory

2007-12-28 Thread Brent N. Stephens
I think that's by design. On my system, if I run texhash as root, then
it updates everything but my ~/texmf directory. If I run texhash as
USER, then it updates /home/USER/texmf. That way each user can update
their own home texmf directory as they need.

[Bug 139462] Re: please sync package xl2tpd from debian

2007-09-14 Thread Brent N. Stephens
Thanks. I didn't understand that to be the case. I knew that they
synced new versions of packages already in Ubuntu, but I thought they
kind of picked the ones they wanted from debian. Thanks for the info.

2007-09-13 Thread Brent N. Stephens
I was pretty sure it wouldn't. But I noticed it now, so I thought I'd
report it now so that it could get into hardy.

[Bug 109586] Re: Touchpad configuration (ksynaptics) has no (permanent) effect

I'm having this problem with gutsy, but had no problems at all with
feisty. No idea why.

[Bug 138255] Re: missing landscape.sty

2007-09-08 Thread Brent N. Stephens
Try \usepackage{lscape}, and then \begin{landscape}...\end{landscape}

I have lscape on my system (standard install). It could be that
landscape.sty has been replaced by lscape.sty

In general, when you update TeX and you think you have lost something, it's
very likely that a different package supplies the functionality you're looking
for. TUG (TeX Users Group) is a good starting point for figuring out how to do
whatever with TeX.

[Bug 99442] Re: wireless device is sometimes eth1, sometimes wlan0

2007-07-05 Thread Brent N. Stephens
The problem no longer occurs. I don't know why it did before. I have
changed a few things, but I'm not sure what fixed it. Maybe the bug
should just be removed, since I posted it and I can't reproduce it.
Then again, maybe there is a quirk somewhere that makes it happen. I
don't know.

[Bug 122440] Re: Tex Live is not fully tetex compliant

2007-06-27 Thread Brent N. Stephens
Right, but texlive-humanities contains some of the files that had been
in texlive-extra. So if anyone is trying to do an upgrade from
texlive-2005 then it could very well break things. I had one particular
file that compiled fine with texlive 2005, but failed to compile with
2007 until i added texlive-humanities.

Not a big deal to me. I managed to find what I needed. I just thought
you might want the information. Now you can do whatever you want with
it. :)

[Bug 122440] Re: Tex Live is not fully tetex compliant

2007-06-26 Thread Brent N. Stephens
I had to manually install texlive-humanities. I had upgraded from
texlive 2005. I know this bug is about tetex, but it seems related
anyhow. It appears that texlive-humanities-2005 doesn't exist but
texlive-humanities-2007 does.

I hope that was helpful.

[Bug 119734] synaptics touchpad eratic in gutsy

2007-06-10 Thread Brent N. Stephens
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ksynaptics

My synaptics touchpad worked great in Feisty. I don't like the default
behavior so I use ksynaptics to manage the touchpad. In gutsy, with ksynaptics
0.3.3-2ubuntu1, xorg 1:7.2-3ubuntu3, and xorg-driver-fglrx
7.1.0-8.34.8+2.6.22.1-6.8 Maybe it's a problem with the xserver. I am using a
patch for fglrx found here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22/+bug/115188
I don't think the patch would affect this, but I don't really know.

I have disabled tapping, but sometimes tapping still happens. The
scroll area on the right covers 1/4 of the touchpad. The horizontal
scroll doesn't work at all.

[Bug 116193] Re: error upgrading tzdata_2007e to tzdata_2007f

2007-05-31 Thread Brent N. Stephens
OK. That's just weird. I had the same problem, changed my timezone to
Berlin, and the update worked just fine. The update is in process, if
it finishes I'll try to change my timezone back. For the record, my
timezone was Indianapolis.
