as well.

+ typing in commands.
+
+ Using Ctrl+alt+T launches the terminal the way I expect, with immediate

[Bug 1797355] Re: Once logged in, GDM Shell process CPU usage spiking at 100%

2018-10-11 Thread Brian Curtis
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 using driver 390.87 64Bit architecture

I know that my windows NVIDIA drivers are in the 400's. Would it be
worth testing a newer NVIDIA driver?

[Bug 1194875] [NEW] Empathy still receives messages while offline and not running

2013-06-26 Thread Brian Curtis
Public bug reported:

I'll be using google chat through my gmail account in the browser and
it doesn't matter how many times i kill telepathy-gabble or empathy-
chat, I will still receive a message on empathy sent to my telepathy-
gabble account.

I don't think this is specifically telepathy-gabble since I have killed
telepathy-gabble many times and this issue still reoccurs. In fact I
can't find a way to stop receiving messages yet.

Reproduce:
-Launch empathy, setup (or use) a telepathy gabble account and receive an IM.
-Quit empathy
-kill empathy-chat telepathy-gabble in terminal
-receive an IM from a telepathy-gabble contact.

[Bug 1194875] Re: Empathy still receives messages while offline and not running

2013-06-26 Thread Brian Curtis
I added telepathy-gabble because there is still a 50/50 possibility it's
related to that package as well.

[Bug 1188656] [NEW] Left clicking on Unity dash icons acts the same as right clicking

2013-06-07 Thread Brian Curtis
Public bug reported:

I expect that: Left clicking an icon in the dash should open the app selected
What I actually get is: it instead acts like right clicking and gives you the
app information.

Can be worked around for now by clicking launch in that window.

[Bug 1188656] Re: Bring back single left mouse click to open unity dash icons

2013-06-07 Thread Brian Curtis
Rationale for changing it back to one-click:
- Consistency across all unity interfaces
- Touch interfaces, why would you want to double click a touch device to open
an app?
- I personally have gotten used to single clicks, and moving to a double click
would IMO be a major change, and can get annoying while adapting.

** Summary changed:

- Left clicking on Unity dash icons acts the same as right clicking

Empathy is up to 3.4.2.3 in -proposed. Enable that repository
temporarily and upgrade empathy and see if you still have the same
issue. Then get new mission control logs and we can move from there.

your issue. If not let us know and we'll move onto getting debug files

There was a bug in telepathy-indicator which was fixed in version
0.3.0-0ubuntu3 which is in quantal-proposed. Would you be able to enable
that repository and see if installing that fixes your issue. You will
need to restart your desktop session for the changes to take effect I
believe.

Thanks for your bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can not

make sure that the checkbox next to Enable notifications when a contact
comes (online/offline) and make sure that you are not away or busy if
you have that checkbox marked. Let me know that these are set OK, they
may have been switched off/on in an update

[Bug 1065176] Re: first message not showing in gnome message bar

2012-10-11 Thread Brian Curtis
Thanks for your bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better. What
version of empathy are you using? 'empathy --version' in terminal. Do
the messages come in at the same time where as the first may show but be
overlapped with the second message, or are they far enough apart that
the first message is not shown.

[Bug 1030416] [NEW] SRU request for 0.18.2

2012-07-28 Thread Brian Curtis
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Bug #1018504 - Fixed in upstream, backported by upstream to stable release (see
content below)
It seems an upstream issue with google contacts not being displayed is
potential in stable release due to a race condition
[Test Case]
-setup a google talk account
-make sure contacts load
[Regression Potential]
None expected as other than the race condition bug the fixes are minor build
related issues.

FROM UPSTREAM EMAIL:
I strongly suggest to distributions shipping GNOME 3.4 to update to this
version ASAP as it fixes a nasty race preventing GTalk contacts to be
loaded.

tarball:
http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/releases/telepathy-glib/telepathy-glib-0.18.2.tar.gz
signature:
http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/releases/telepathy-glib/telepathy-glib-0.18.2.tar.gz.asc
git: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/telepathy/telepathy-glib

Enhancements:

• Add clean-for-new-branch Makefile target which is more thorough than
clean, but less thorough than distclean (in particular, it doesn't
  forget your ./configure options) (Simon)

Fixes:

• Retry preparation of features that depended on a missing connection
interface after the connection connects, in the hope that the
interface has
now become available (fd.o #42981, Guillaume)

• Fix warning when preparing blocked contacts before
  TP_CONNECTION_FEATURE_CONNECTED is officially prepared. (fd.o #52441,
Xavier)

• Fix Vala bindings build when srcdir is different from
  builddir. (fdo#49802, Colin)

[Bug 1030424] [NEW] Update to 0.27

2012-07-28 Thread Brian Curtis
Public bug reported:

pkg-config 0.27
===

 - Drop usage of popt for equivalent API in glib2.
 - Add back an internal snapshot of glib2 to break circular dependency.
This can be used by passing --with-internal-glib to configure. On
Windows it may still be required to use an installed glib.
 - Fix --exists to check for Requires and Requires.private. This ensures
that all necessary packages are installed prior to using --cflags,
   --libs, etc.
 - Various fixes for MinGW which should allow it to be used unpatched on
   that system.
 - New autoconf macros PKG_INSTALLDIR and PKG_NOARCH_INSTALLDIR to help
determine the .pc file install directory.
 - Fix handling of --exact/atleast/max-version vs. =/=/=.
 - Fix errors in man page source.
 - Ensure testing only searches in the check directory.
 - Bump glib requirement to 2.16 to avoid deprecated
   g_win32_get_package_installation_subdirectory().
 - Autotools refresh and update. The required versions now are
   autoconf-2.62, automake-1.11 and libtool-2.2.
 - Use g_alloca from glib instead of figuring out alloca ourselves.
 - Remove search for setresuid setreuid only needed for internal popt.

2012-05-31 Thread Brian Curtis
Thanks for your bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better. Go to
Facebook on your browser and on the left click your name. For example
when I do that I get the web address of
http://www.facebook.com/bcurtis*** so when I provide login information
to empathy i have my username as bcurtis*** (this is different then the
UN/Email i provide when logging into Facebook on the web browser).

If you've already tried that, then please go to Help-Debug in the menu

facebook and save that log and attach it to this bug report.

[Bug 1005531] Re: Editing irc port is hard

2012-05-28 Thread Brian Curtis
Thanks for your bug report and helping to makle Ubuntu better.

You have the option in empathy to edit which port is used first.

In the account wizard, click the IRC connection you want to change
Click to Edit Connection Parameters
Click Freenode (Thats the Ubuntu server)
Click edit when freenode is selected in the server list
Expand the window down, and select the freenode listing with 8001 as the port,
then using the up arrow click it until it does grey and you've made 8001 the
default server port that empathy will use.

Although, That's too many steps and quite confusing for the average
user. Marking this as a wishlist bug and hopefully the upstream devs
will follow quit (if you can't).

[Bug 889609] Re: Empathy toolbar is empty when window resized

First guess would be GTK handling minimum window sizes wrong. This is a
regression in a release and I am tagging it as such.
