This error can happen when there is a problem with your sendmail.cf: It seems that Debian's sendmailconfig doesn't properly handle errors in sendmail configuration files. For instance if there is a syntactic error and you see a message like:
Creating /etc/mail/sendmail.cf... m4:/etc/mail/sendmail.mc:123: ERROR: end of file in string the sendmailconfig script will just keep going (although it should actually exit there) and then break somewhere else because the state of /etc/mail is invalid. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1817648 Title: Directory ownership changes by itself To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sendmail/+bug/1817648/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
