[Bug 1250003] bug 1250003: Failure to install Post fix

2013-11-14 Thread Brian Slinger
Very many thanks for reply. Herewith screenshot of the result. Your
remedy was successful. And I learned a command that may well be of great
value in future

Please note that when I successfully reconfigured Postfix, I had little idea of
what information to supply to answer the  questions but I will study the
manuals etc. in my own time and edit as appropriate. For info, currently I read
and write emails from the website/Firefox so there is no panic.
As regards what happened previously, I got the first screen but there was no
way to make a selection or to press OK.

Regards and thanks again
Brian Slinger

I tried to install MUTT from Software Centre. The installation procedure

website forwarded the request to a mirror)

[Bug 995928] [NEW] failure to show boot menu

2012-05-07 Thread Brian Slinger
Public bug reported:

32 bit Ubuntu 1204LTS. I have triple boot with Vista and Debian 6. I
expect to be given the choice of which to open but the boot menu screen
is not displayed. Instead i get an error message to the effect that the
computer does not support that display mode and instructs me to change
to 1282X1024X60Hzs. This problem has occured with other distros and was
overcome by changing a default. I cannot see a suitable file to edit

** Affects: installation-guide (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 103019] Re: [feisty, beta] Invalid parameters on recording sound with Sound recorder (gnome-sourd-recorder)

2007-06-18 Thread Brian Slinger
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 92879 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/92879

Using Sound Capture, I can record streaming internet sounds in FLAC and
WAV formats and save using save as. I can play back both
satisfactorily. OGG gives a problem in that playback is accelerated to
the extent that it is unintelligabe in every player I try. I can play
back OGG files of ripped cd music. BTW I have a variant of the fault
noted by Amol Karmarkar and JakeG; in my case, it always tries to switch
to MIX
