[Bug 322385] [NEW] solid blue rectangle(sbr) covering some icons in task bar

2009-01-28 Thread Brian Wootton
Public bug reported:

The task bar is absolutely correct until I attempt to use mail, and only if I
use new/write, reply, reply all, or forward do
I get the following symptoms.

While I am creating the body of the mail message, some or all of the icons are
covered with solid blue rectangles,
each will clear momentarily when I run the cursor over it. The sbr does not
interfere with the functionality of the
icon, I just have to remember where the icon I want is hidden. The worst task
bar mess happens when I'm
replying to kubuntu-users-request!
When I hit send, the task bar sbrs settle down a bit and only blank out one or
two icons, usually kmix and eth0

There are no sbr problems at the moment because I haven't sent any mail since I
booted up.
I thought it might be Thunderbird causing the problem, so I set up KMail and
used that, no difference, still the
same symptoms. So I thought the problem might be with the SMTP. But I got a
similar problem when I logged
into my ISP account and sent mail from there.
This is as far as I've got, hope you can help.

I'm running kubuntu intrepid 8.10 with KDE 4.1.3 on a 64bit AMD Sempron

Re: [Bug 301358] Re: wouldn't install

2008-11-23 Thread Brian Wootton
Colin
Thanks, I can't now check this because my machine installed the latest
nvidia driver(..177..? for higher display
resolutions) at the same time, and asked me to reboot. Ever since then
the boot sequence fails to complete, I get
the correct display resolution(1440 x 900) at the start, enabling me to
log in properly, and then it adds the various
small 'pictures' but then suddenly the display completely vanishes and
I'm left with a small floating window on
screen saying 'input not supported'. I'm about to start the whole
install from scratch again, unless you can point
at somewhere to start looking.
