[Bug 606887] [NEW] Does not support Mobile Broardband

2010-07-18 Thread Bright Lightning
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-network

Why does indicator-network have to front-end connman when network-
manager already has all the features a desktop user needs for network
management such as Mobile Broadband, VPN, etc.

Why can't indicator-network be rewritten to be a front-end replacement
for network-manager-gnome (the Notification Area front-end for network-
manager). Surely this would be a much better option. I would of thought
that it would be easier to rewrite indicator-network to work with
network-manager (and change network-manager so it doesn't depend on
network-manager-gnome anymore) than to implement the necessary features
in connman and provide front end options for these new features in
indicator-network?

** Affects: indicator-network (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 573607] Re: Totem won't play XVID mpeg 4 files

2010-06-19 Thread Bright Lightning
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 453863 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453863

I also had this bug - when I open a video file (like an avi or flv or
mp4). However I found a solution on the ubuntu forums - I ran the
following commands:

rm ~/.gstreamer-0.10/*
This removed the Gstreamer settings for the current user.

I then installed Gstreamer-Tools (check in synaptic to see if you
already have it, if not install it - or run sudo apt-get install
gstreamer-tools without quote marks).

and then ran the gstreamer-tools command:
gst-inspect
to rebuild the gstreamer settings.

This fixed playing the video layer for all these formats!

I hope you find this useful.
