[Bug 708493] Re: cannot login anymore: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer

2011-05-18 Thread Brownout
But what would be different if it were a CISCO, JUNIPER, or ACME?
The idea is to identify common conditions and reproducing the behavior you
described, as any other bug,
No offense, but your analysis alone is not enough to declare the problem solved.

[Bug 450002] [NEW] rsyslog ignores iptables LOG targets

2009-10-12 Thread Brownout
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rsyslog

Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 Beta, rsyslog 4.2.0-2ubuntu4

First rule of the INPUT chain in iptables:
LOGtcp -- 0.0.0.0/00.0.0.0/0 tcp dpt:80 LOG
flags 0 level 4 prefix `FW_TEST: '

Connection attempts matching that rule don't get logged anywhere; I
added a a couple of rules to the default config (attached file) for
debugging, still nothing.

Grepping /var/log/* for FW_TEST doesn't find anything; grepping dmesg shows
what's expected, e.g.:

[Bug 421444] Re: Cannot find manual for System - Administration - Authorizations

2009-10-02 Thread Brownout
Sorry if I abuse this bug report but I don't understand, what does it
mean? Will we be able to edit security policies without resorting to
manual file editing in karmic? The AuthorizationS tool used in the beta
is still the old one and it doesn't handle the aforementioned transition
too well (LP #421800), is there any plan to provide a non deprecated
working alternative before the final release?

[Bug 297263] Re: HP/Compaq mini Sky2 Ethernet not working if booting from battery

2009-09-07 Thread Brownout
For those using an HP 2140, upgrading the BIOS firmware should solve the
problem
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/338707/comments/5).

[Bug 338707] Re: Marvell Technology Group ethernet card sometimes not detected

2009-09-02 Thread Brownout
Upgrade the BIOS firmware.
From F02 release notes: Fixes an issue that occurs on notebooks running a
Linux operating system that are using battery power (DC power) with a LAN
cable plugged in, where the wired network controller (NIC) is not recognized
by the system when the notebook is booted.
After upgrading my HP 2140 to F03 (F04 seems to be MS Windows only) the problem
disappeared.
This bug seems to be related to #297263.

I'm using the version from the PPA for about a month now, since I had
freezing issues with the one from official Intrepid repo, working
flawlessly with a Creative Zen V Plus.

[Bug 132716] Re: ATI Driver Gets Black Screen on Radeon 7500 Mobile (Regression)

2007-10-17 Thread Brownout
I have a Radeon 7000 (01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc
Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE] (prog-if 00 [VGA])) and after upgrading from
Feisty tu Gutsy I got a blank screen. I tried the latest git snapshot,
switching modes with xrandr, with or without LVDSBiosNativeMode, using the
default generic kernel instead of custom recompiled, nothing, my LCD screen
still complains no signal.
The same thing happened when I upgraded from openSuse 10.2 to 10.3, ironically
that was the reason I switched to Kubuntu.

I noticed that now I don't get the message agpgart: Device is in legacy
mode, falling back to 1.x, while I've always had that in the past.
