[Bug 1404947]

2015-03-05 Thread Bruno coudoin
I just tested again and this is not a bug, it's a feature. When GCompris
is set to the system locale it respects the LANG env variable. And BTW
this is releated to the Gtk+ version, not the Qt one.

[Bug 1404947] Re: does not honor LC_MESSAGES

2014-12-31 Thread Bruno coudoin
In GCompris there is a configuration dialog allowing the user to select
a locale. This is usefull to let a user set a target language instead of
his desktop one. When GCompris is set as 'use your system locale' then
we respect the environment values.

Please check your GCompris configuration and close the bug if it is not
set to default.

2010-10-22 Thread Bruno coudoin
To run this activity, one can use:
gcompris -l /puzzle/photohunter

I just tested on 10.10 and it works fine.

There is a counter on the bottom right that indicates the number of
differences to find. At first, one one has to be found, then starting at
the narval there is 2. You are probably not finding them all.

Are you running a particular game when it crashes?
I'm unable to reproduce the crashing, at least when using Gnome.

I have reproduced it. Just install a fresh Jaunty, then GCompris and it
crashes at startup.

Gcompris works fine but if I go to /usr/share/gcompris/python/, open a
python shell and run from DWT import dwt I get:
 Traceback (most recent call last):
File stdin, line 1, in module
File DTW/dtw.py, line 25, in module
 from Numeric import *
 ImportError: No module named Numeric

Yes this is the root cause. Sadly, the activity
requiring DTW is experimental in this version of GCompris and has been
removed in newer releases. Thus the patch is to remove the *tutor*
activities (the xml activity menus and the python code) and DTW.

By the way, it is probably easier to package the latest release because
there has been numerous bug fix and a few major improvements.

One solution is to add Numeric but this is somewhat silly because this
activity was an experimental one that was uncomplete. It has been
removed from the latest GCompris release 8.4.8. The correct fix for you
is to provide the latest release. It includes several bugfixes and most
important the intro voices that explains what to do in each activities.

I have absolutely no idea what may cause this crash. The workaround is to play
at another python based activity first.
I tested on gutsy GCompris 8.3.4, the latest stable in the 8.3 branch and it
does work fine.
Sadly, there are no changes I can see concerning this code. There maybe a side
effect in the build process or from another
fix.

Can someone build a 8.3.4 on gutsy following the official process and
check if the problem is still there.

[Bug 107971] Re: Incomplete French translation

2007-11-05 Thread Bruno coudoin
As the French author of GCompris, I confirm the issue and it's very
annoying. GCompris is not usable in french schools due to this bug.

[Bug 49840] Re: Gcompris administration menu not working

2007-01-04 Thread Bruno coudoin
Hi Ubuntu users.

Before entering the technical detail, please let me tell you how sad I
feel that nobody did bring these problems to the development team of
GCompris. Unless it's clearly a packaging issue I see no reason why the
development team of GCompris is not kept aware of problems found. That's
a real problem for us, there are hundreds of GNU/Linux distributions and
if every body discuss and implement workarounds in their distros, the
developers don't have the necessary feedback to make a better software.

That said there are 2 main problems that may occur in the administration module
of GCompris.
First, we use sqlite to store the activities, users and so on in the file
located there under your home dir:
.gcompris/shared/profiles/gcompris_sqlite.db

Sadly, sqlite doesn't work on NFS which means that if your HOMEs are on
NFS, it won't work. The workaround is to run GC with the --database
option or create a link from
.gcompris/shared/profiles/gcompris_sqlite.db to a local file.

To recreate the database if it's corrupted, you can erase it and start
GC again or use the --create-db option.

Another deep problem we have in the community is how and why we still
run old version of software. Here you talk about GCompris 7.2 which is
one year old. As a small development team, we don't know how to support
so old code. And more important, since our users don't use the new
version we make, we don't have feedback, neither on the feature or the
bug reports.

[Bug 62764] Re: [gcompris] English-GB is English-US and uses the US flag

2007-01-03 Thread Bruno coudoin

The flag mismatch was fixed the 2004-04-27, before release 6.0. I don't know on
which release you tested.

I am adding EN_us locale with the US flag to the list in the
configuration. It will be in upcomming GCompris 8.3.
