[Bug 1063140] Re: Drag and Drop position ignored by xfdesktop

2019-04-08 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
I disagree. Bug 12201 is related to the Grub bootloader and it's a new feature
request.
It has nothing to do with this ticket. It's not a duplicate.

[Bug 1455881] Re: Global history for apt package management

2018-08-03 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Sorry it's still a problem in Ubuntu 18.04 and yes, I'm still interested
in finding a solution.

I think "apport-collect 1455881" is not necessary. The problem is
extremely easy to reproduce.

I can understand that some people consider this as enhancement or
feature but I think this is a bug. It's irritating and provokes mistakes
at the administrative level.

I can't reproduce it, because the RSS feet changed its URL structure.
That means my personal problem is gone anyway.
If nobody else is affected by this issue, then it's ok for me to close it.

[Bug 1628862] [NEW] RSS & "Accept-Language" header

2016-09-29 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Public bug reported:

Some RSS feeds evaluate the "Accept-Language" header of the request to
deliver the content in the correct language.

Unfortunately my German Thunderbird delivers the content in English.
I've tested the RSS-URL in Firefox and the content was German. I changed
the "Accept-Language" header with Tamper Data in Firefox to English and
the content switched to English.

I don't know a tool like Tamper Data for Thunderbird. So I can't check
the "Accept-Language" header directly. I also don't see a way to
configure this in Thunderbird.

This problem appears circa one year ago (not sure). So it worked in the
past.

2015-06-04 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Hi, I'm not a member of the quality assurance team. I'm just a user. I've no
intension to register me on all the bug tracking tools.
So far I see, it's possible for the ubuntu team to reference bugs in other bug
tracking systems (Example:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/1455873).

I would be very pleased if you do that also with this bug. Thank you.

[Bug 1256110] [NEW] Missing terminal and search in right click menu (detail view)

2013-11-28 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Public bug reported:

I'm using the detail view in thunar.

When I right-click on a empty space in a open thunar window, I have
useful actions. I can open a terminal in the directory or I can search
in the directory. I have also the paste-function for copypaste.

That's all wonderful but it requires an empty space but a directory with
many files in detail view has no empty space. So there is no way to use
those actions easily.

Is it possible to add those actions in the right-click menu (or in a
sub-menu)?

[Bug 1047384] Re: System Encryption Password set before setting keyboard locale

2013-10-28 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Maybe a workaround:

Check the current settings:
 gsettings get org.gnome.libgnomekbd.keyboard layouts

Overwrite the setting (replace 'fr' with your local key; 'de' is german for
example)
 gsettings set org.gnome.libgnomekbd.keyboard layouts ['us\taltgr-intl',
 'fr']

Source:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/328952/i-cannot-change-the-login-managers-keyboard-layout

Does it work for you?

If you think of the fact that the normal user doesn’t even know how to change
the keyphrase even IF he somehow managed to log in one time, this is a bug of
HIGH importance.
I deeply agree to that statement.

[Bug 1047384] Re: System Encryption Password set before setting keyboard locale

2013-04-06 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
The password works in the text consoles (Ctrl - Alt - F1 oder Ctrl - Alt
- F2 ...). That means, in the text consoles is the correct keyboard
layout activated. Only the graphical login worked always with US
keyboard layout. I tried also XDM as graphical login screen, but it was
still the US keyboard layout. I tried an other distribution (Linux Mint
Debian Edition) -- same bug.

Maybe this bug relates to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm-gtk-greeter/+bug/990214

This bug became a bug for the lightdm-gtk-greeter package, but I thats
this is wrong (XDM). I also think it's not a problem of the install
process (console-Login + other distribution). Maybe it is a problem of
the X-Server.

[Bug 1058690] Re: Xubuntu installer crashes

2012-09-30 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
I expected it was an automatically reporting, because the installer
opened automatically the Firefox with the bug report website and I
logged in. The Dependencies.txt was automatically added to this bug and
also the bottom part of the bug description.

My Oracle Virtual-Box-Version: 4.1.22 r80657
Settings (changed from default):
- 8 CPUs
- 4096 MB Ram
- 64 MB Graphic memory
- 3D speedup
- 2D-Video speedup

An other installation without disk encrytion and without LVM but with
home directory encrytion was successfully (similar Virtual-Box
settings).

In want to try to reproduce it.

2012-09-30 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Public bug reported:

By an installation of Xubuntu 12.10 beta 2 I enabled the disc encryption
check box.

After the installation, I've to input the Password at the boot screen.
So far so good.

But the Password does not work.

I bet it has something to do with the keyboard layout. I'm useing a
German keyboard and I've special characters in my password.

The bug means, that's possible to have menu items which not editable in

[Bug 1002027] [NEW] missing start menu entries in xubuntu menu editor

2012-05-20 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Public bug reported:

I installed the noMachine client on xubuntu 12.04
http://www.nomachine.com/download-package.php?Prod_Id=3592

Yes, I know, this packages are not supported by ubuntu but the noMachine
packages are only a way to reproduce this bug.

After the installation I have an additional Internet folder in the
start menu with the noMachine starters. I don't like two folders with
equal names, so I tried to change this in the menu editor. But the
Internet folder with the noMachine startes is not visible in the
editor.

I think all visible things in the menu should be manageable. Maybe the
noMachine added this menu items in a wrong way, but in this case the
menu items should not be included in the xubuntu start menu.

[Bug 990244] Re: boot screen graphic destroyed

2012-04-30 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Ubuntu 12.04 was a fresh installation (no upgrade).
But yes, this bug happens also with former ubuntu versions. I've this problem
also with my old computer (also nvidia graphic card).

And yes, there was a unbuntu version in the past where the boot splash
was normal (on my old computer), but I don't know which one. Sorry, not
very helpfull, I know.

Maybe this has something to do with my problem, but the fix don't work for me:
http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Fix-the-Big-and-Ugly-Plymouth-Logo-in-Ubuntu-10-04-140810.shtml

However, the /usr/share/doc/plymouth/README.Debian file means:
For nVidia and ATI users, the default nouveau and radeon drivers are
Kernel Mode Setting enabled, but do not always provide 3D capability at the
current time. By switching to using the restricted/non-free nvidia-glx or
fglrx drivers, you will gain 3D capability at the loss of a high-color splash
screen.

[Bug 990244] Re: boot screen graphic destroyed

2012-04-30 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Here is a photo of the problem...

... and I found an other very strange behavior. If I boot in the rescue
mode, then I've no boot splash (That's normal, I know). Now I press
Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart and boot ubuntu in the normal mode. In this case
the boot splash works!!! But if the boot before also in normal mode
(means no rescue) then the boot splash is corrupted. Maybe the problem
is the previously shutdown. Maybe the shutdown leaves somesing behind,
which corrupts the splash by the next boot.

[Bug 990823] [NEW] icedtea doesn't find java executable

2012-04-28 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Public bug reported:

icedtea search the java executable in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-
amd64/jre/bin

But it's in /usr/bin/java (link)
and the link links to
/etc/alternatives/java (also link)
and this link links to
/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java

I think icedtea should search java in /usr/bin or in /etc/alternatives

And yes, icedtea worked after an other manual link creation.

** Affects: icedtea-web (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 990830] [NEW] xfce4 cpugraph colors are nearly equal to panel color

2012-04-28 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Public bug reported:

I installed xubuntu 12.04 (standard desktop design).
After that I installed xfce4-cpugraph-plugin (1.0.1-2).

Also the right-click doesn't work on this plugin (to get the plugin options).

[Bug 990214] [NEW] Wrong keyboard layout by graphical login

2012-04-27 Thread Carsten Holzmüller
Public bug reported:

I have installed a new xubuntu (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) on an empty system.
My home directory is encrypted (checkbox by install).
The text console (F1, F2, F3... ) uses the german keyboard layout (correct).
The lightdm 1.2.1-0ubuntu1 uses an english keyboard (maybe us) and there is no
chooser.
I also tried xdm 1:1.1.11-1ubuntu1 with the same result.
