Thanks! Chromium is working fine, so no need to track this any further.

[Bug 2061936] [NEW] Chrome starts, but runs wild in the bg (never gets to the screen). chromium works fine.

2024-04-16 Thread Cesar A. Quiroz
Public bug reported:

This started today. The chrome snap was automatically updated (updates
to chrome have been arriving fast). After the update, chrome started
failing:

* Clocking on the launcher succeeds, but nothing pops up to the screen.
The UI freezes (can't even updated htop on a term).

* Right clicking on the launcher icon, followed by choosing Quit
restores responsiveness, but there is no chrome.

* chromium launches fine.

Both images come from the same snap.

[Bug 1289679] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 in VMWare: Unresponsive desktop when minimizing windows and Compiz is at 100% CPU

2014-08-29 Thread Cesar A. Quiroz
I see similar symptoms running under VirtualBox 4.3.12r93733, on two
different laptops.

1. Minimizing firefox freezes the screen.
2. Exiting from gnome-terminal sometimes leaves the window mapped. Starting
another terminal makes the first window go away.

One of the laptops says this:

$ uname -a
Linux cesar-u64-dev 3.13.0-35-generic #62-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 15 01:58:42 UTC
2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$

Both are updated to latest software about once a day. In particular,
both have the 3.13.0-35 kernel, and have had all the recent ones.

The problem so far is just an annoyance, if I have a way to log in and
blow away firefox or gnome-terminal.

[Bug 1095357] Re: Clang++ 3.2 fails to compile anything ('bits/c++config.h' file not found)

2013-12-01 Thread Cesar A. Quiroz
Just a heads up: The bug seems to be back in Saucy (32-bit install
running on a VirtualBox).

gcc at 4.8, clang at 3.3, same symptom. /usr/bin/cc-clang
/usr/bin/c++-clang++

To repeat, compile anything that includes string. Then
bits/c++config.h fails to be found again.

The bits/c++config.h file is at /usr/include/i386-linux-gnu/c++/4.8/

Passing '-isystem /usr/include/i386-linux-gnu/c++/4.8'  fixes the
problem for my build.

I am rebuilding llvm 3.3 and will try to fix it in InitHeaderSearch.cpp
or therabouts.
