[Bug 1658921] Re: NetworkManager does not manage wired connection
I just upgraded 16.10 -> 17.04 and this defect still is present. The bad /usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf was recreated and I had to delete it to get my wired LAN back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1658921 Title: NetworkManager does not manage wired connection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1658921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 13130] Re: Debconf uninitialized variable
I just added myself as "having this issue" but the more I look at it the more I believe this is a filesystem issue. Both my /var/lib/dpkg and /var/cache/debconf directories look unhealthy (files appear to be truncated, corrupted, etc.) This is on a laptop system running on a SSD ex4 with no journal (i.e. very susceptible to problems on ungraceful shutdown). [Bug 455144] [NEW] 9.10 Koala - usability problem with domain of search
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kpackagekit There is a confusing usability problem with the way the search field is implemented. I did: System Settings -> Window Behavior -> Moving and enabled: Display window geometry when moving or resize. Now, when I try to move or resize a konsole window, the geometry is displayed, but the geometry is displayed in pixels. It should be rows and columns. I checked with xterm, and it is working correctly. ** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- window resize displays in pixels not rows/columns https://launchpad.net/bugs/99166 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 91961] feisty herd5: no user account, won't install grub
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer I tried to install kubuntu feisty herd5 i386 alternate and two problems occurred: * At the spot where I'd normally be prompted for a full name to create a user account, I was instead prompted for a password. After typing password confirmation, it continued. I switched to another screen and looked at the passwd file, and no entries had been made. * At the end of the procedure, when it should install the boot loader, it wanted to install LILO. I did a back into the debian-installer tasks list and there was no option to install or select GRUB. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: The problem may be related to the disk configuration. The system had two SATA hard drives. The first drive was configured with a single LVM physical volume, and that PV assigned to one volume group. I planned to reformat just the root and var filesystems and install there. The second drive was configured with a single LVM physical volume, and that PV assigned to another volume group. I planned to make no changes to this disk. (This was a drive from an old system, and I just wanted to have it available to mount to retrieve old data.) WORKAROUND: I pulled the second drive, restarted the installation, and it ran successfully. Therefore, I suspect the confusion may be related to the LVM configuration on that second disk. ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- feisty herd5: no user account, won't install grub https://launchpad.net/bugs/91961 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 91420] Re: cannot add printer with an lpd backend
The problem is that /usr/lib/cups/backend/lpd was installed mode 600. This was a full install of Feisty Herd 5. When I changed the permissions to 755 the problem was fixed. -- cannot add printer with an lpd backend https://launchpad.net/bugs/91420 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 91420] cannot add printer with an lpd backend
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdeprint I am trying to add a printer that is connected to a network print server. The print server implements LPD queues, so that's the backend I want to use. Here is the procedure I use: * start kcontrol * select "Printers" * select "Administrator Mode" and enter password * select: Add -> Add Printer/Class ... * "Add Printer Wizard" starts up * on the "Backend Selection" screen, the "Remote LPD Queue" choice is ghosted out and I cannot select it ** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- cannot add printer with an lpd backend https://launchpad.net/bugs/91420 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 66637] Re: Hibernation stops working after upgrade to edgy - "no valid swap signature, try swapon -a"
I too had this problem (hibernation broke on update to Edgy). The procedure described above worked. My problem may have been that my /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume file just said: RESUME= Somehow the swap partition UUID never got registered there on the Edgy upgrade. -- Hibernation stops working after upgrade to edgy - "no valid swap signature, try swapon -a" https://launchpad.net/bugs/66637 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 73170] libvisual cannot be found by pkg-config
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libvisual-0.4-dev Programs that use pkg-config to locate libvisual (such as ProjectM) will not build correctly. The symptom is that the configure script fails saying it cannot find the library, even though it is installed. The reason for the failure is because pkg-config is unable to locate the library. You can see this by typing: $ pkg-config --print-errors libvisual Package libvisual was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libvisual.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'libvisual' found $ echo $? 1 The problem is that the version number is embedded in the pkg-config file. Here is my workaround: $ cd /usr/lib/pkgconfig $ sudo ln -s libvisual-0.4.pc libvisual.pc Now it works correctly: $ pkg-config --print-errors libvisual $ echo $? 0 ** Affects: libvisual (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- libvisual cannot be found by pkg-config https://launchpad.net/bugs/73170 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
