[Bug 187306] ipw2200 performance degraded with recent upgrades
My ipw2200 was working fine - with the occasional packet reset, but with some recent upgrade performance has dropped to non-functional. It has only since I switched back to a wired network have I realised how slow the ipw2200 had become. [Bug 152664] update-rc.d segmentation fault on upgrade from clean feisty to gutsy

Host is a xen host - with a clean feisty image.
Logged into console, followed instructions for clean server image upgrade
apt-get install update-manager-core
do-release-upgrade
A whole chunk of packages won't complete their postinst because update-rc.d is
seg faulting
I can install other packages , and remove packages - but apt-get --configure -a
fails
all the time with this set of packages
Some of the packages fail because update-rc.d seg faults in the postinst, and
the rest
are failing because they have dependencies on the first set.
Examining the postinst for the packages that are failing , I pulled a full
