[Bug 645498] Re: Laptop fails to hibernate with Maverick

2010-11-04 Thread Chris Jepsen
Seems as though recent updates have resolved this (to a degree). My HP
6730s now hibernates and resumes successfully, but the atombios error
messages are still visible so it doesn't look great.

Can anyone confirm the updates have resolved this issue?

Same issue here, except the error regarding the looping atombios means
that the computer never shuts down. It hangs on the text until I force
a restart.

[Bug 555122] Re: Cannot adjust brightness in Lucid Lynx

2010-05-14 Thread Chris Jepsen
No problem, it's just that you have string= instead of
contains_outof=

Not sure how much of a difference this will make though, but it's worth
a shot.

[Bug 555122] Re: Cannot adjust brightness in Lucid Lynx

2010-05-13 Thread Chris Jepsen
Silvan, that worked perfectly for me. One reboot and now I'm back in
action and can change the brightness without a drama. Thanks a lot!

@Sylvain, try changing the file exactly as silvan describes, (ie, adding
the string to the existing line) as this is what worked for me.

[Bug 555122] Re: Cannot adjust brightness in Lucid Lynx

2010-05-06 Thread Chris Jepsen
Good decision, fglrx consistently crashed my x-server in Alpha and Beta.
I was thinking the same thing as you, so I turned it back on to test the
brightness issue. (While fglrx doesnt crash the x-server anymore, it's
still got problems, I'm going to stick with the free one for now.)

Either way, the brightness issue remains with both drivers. Hope this
helps.

Thanks tibibo, also I should mention that the HP 6730s has integrated
ATI Radeon HD 3430 graphics.

Could this be an issue with the ATI driver?

Scrap that, Gwibber stops working after removing OpenDNS from settings.

2010-04-25 Thread Chris Jepsen
I can confirm adding OpenDNS allows Facebook to authorize Gwibber.

Also, Gwibber continues to function if you remove OpenDNS after setting
up the account. Hopefully we can get this fixed before the release of
Lucid.

This message shows under the 'Ubuntu 10.04' purple splash screen. The
boot is then much slower than expected.

[Bug 555122] [NEW] Cannot adjust brightness in Lucid Lynx

2010-04-04 Thread Chris Jepsen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Hewlett-Packard
HP Compaq 6730s
F.09
Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx
gnome-power-manager (2.30.0-0ubuntu1)

Pressing the keyboard shortcuts (Fn + F7/F8) does not adjust the screen
brightness. When the AC adapter is removed, brightness dims to minimum,
when plugged in, brightness appears to be at a maximum.

Also, when the keyboard shortcuts are used, the notification in the top
right appears flashes on each key press, but the bar and the brightness
do not change.

Just upgraded from Karmic where this was not an issue.

** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
