[Bug 1775833] Re: unbound not running after automatic update

2018-06-08 Thread Chris Williams
I noticed the same issue on some of our unbound servers as well on
Ubuntu 16.04. I agree that it's some kind of race condition since it
only seemed to happen on some of our servers and not all of them even
though they are all configured identically.

Decided to real kick some Samba ass and now after adding some firewall
rules (Not mentioned in the documentation) it works, so I don't need
cloudprint anymore.

[Bug 1129021] Re: Couldn't Connect to Cloud Service

2015-05-13 Thread Chris Williams
Worked out how to do the install. Still no change says printer needs a
firmware update and wont print.

Think it would be easier just to buy a wireless print server. All I want
to do is to print to a printer on my Ubuntu desktop from my Windows 7
PC. And no, Samba does not want to play ball.

Chris.

[Bug 1453723] [NEW] Cloudprint asking for firmware updates

2015-05-11 Thread Chris Williams
Public bug reported:

I have checked at http://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/ and
http://askubuntu.com/ and cant find any mention of this. I have setup
cloudprint on my Ubuntu 14.04 PC and Google sees the printers as does my
Windows 7 PC. However, when I try to print, it tells me that it can' as
the printer needs a firmware update:

It is an Epson stylus printer and the support pages for Google talk
about giving the ip address of the printer, obtained from the printer
control panel. The printer a stylus SX105, does not have a control
panel. Cups, as I understand it, uses the loopback address, so this is
no use.

Epson's site has nothing about firmware updates for this printer, hence,
I can't print using cloudprint.

[Bug 1129021] [NEW] Couldn't Connect to Cloud Service

2013-02-18 Thread Chris Williams
Public bug reported:

If have googled this problem and can't find any answers.

I get the following when running cloudprint:

chris@purplewelshy:~$ cloudprint -d
Updated Printer Stylus-C82-Colour
Updated Printer Stylus-C82
chris@purplewelshy:~$ started with pid 3896
ERROR: Couldn't Connect to Cloud Service. Will Try again in 60 Seconds
ERROR: Couldn't Connect to Cloud Service. Will Try again in 60 Seconds

etc. etc.

I am using:

Ubuntu 12.04 3.2.0-37-lowlatency-pae
Python 2.7.3 (default, Aug 1 2012, 05:16:07)
[GCC 4.6.3] on linux2
cloudprint installed from the software center which seems to be the latest
version of cloudprint
cloudprint:
  Installed: 0.5-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.5-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.5-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

My nexus sends the print to google and google shows the test print in the
correct print queue.

Am I missing something obvious?

Chris.

[Bug 813442] [NEW] TightVNC Server 1.3.9 installed on 64 bit Ubuntu (Segfault) will crash vncviewer on gksudo command / GUI applications, being opened

2011-07-20 Thread Chris Williams
Public bug reported:

My server is Ubuntu 10.04_2 x86_64 - running tightvncserver 1.3.9 (as
found in the repo)

If I ssh into the system, and do tightvncserver -nolisten tcp :1 and
then connect using any other machine (doesn't matter what operating
system as I can demonstrate the bug on Ubuntu 10.10, 10.04, Windows 7
and Windows XP) via xtightvncviewer, the remote connection will crash
out if I open a GUI on the server or run a gksudo command.

This does not happen everytime, but will happen if I use the connection
for long enough (30 mins +).

In order to re-connect again, I must use ssh to connect to the server
and delete out /tmp/.X1-lock and /tmp/.X11.lock/

This problem is detailed here by more users:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1396744

And has a possible solution of upgrading to version 1.3.10 here:
http://pietercvdmlinux.blogspot.com/2010/07/running-tightvncserver-on-ubuntu-1004.html

However this is way beyond my technical knowledge to do, hence I have
reported the bug here in the hopes that perhaps the repo could be
updated to include the latest version of vncserver?

Many thanks

[Bug 577919] Re: chromium-browser fails to start (guest account, OpenVZ): Failed to move to new PID namespace: Operation not permitted

2010-08-20 Thread Chris Williams
@Daniel, I am currently using a custom kernel 2.6.32.14 compiled from
openvz-belyayev. The host is 64-bit Lucid, the guest 32-bit Lucid. I
just retested using the latest from the Lucid repository, chromium-
browser_5.0.375.125~r53311-0ubuntu0.10.04.1_i386, with the same results.

This also seems to occur when running Chromium under an OpenVZ container
-- not because suid is disallowed, but presumably because of some

[Bug 435366] Re: search is broken for most search providers

2009-09-23 Thread Chris Williams
** Summary changed:

- php5-curl required for search to function
+ search is broken for most search providers

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: torrentflux
-
- Torrentflux requires the php5-curl package to be installed in order for
- the built-in search functionality to work; without it, search results
- silently fail to appear. This should be added as a package dependency.
-
- Applies to both 2.3 (hardy) and 2.4 (all later) package versions.
