[Bug 2063987] Re: kmail does not start on noble

2024-04-30 Thread Christoph Thielecke
I found that if I preload /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libqt5keychain.so kmail
starts:

LD_PRELOAD=/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libqt5keychain.so kmail

It seems that kmail isn't linked correctly to search for the shared
library.

[Bug 2063987] [NEW] kmail does not start on noble

2024-04-28 Thread Christoph Thielecke
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from 22.04 to 24.04 and now kmail does not start anymore:

kmail
kmail: symbol lookup error: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKPim5MailTransport.so.5:
undefined symbol: _ZN9QKeychain11isAvailableEv

It seems that something went broken on building packages.

Still valid in akonadi 21.12.3 on Kubuntu 22.04.

I think akonadi should automatically handle this problem.

[Bug 1857121] [NEW] Qt WebEngine crashes with nouveau in Linux

2019-12-20 Thread Christoph Thielecke
Public bug reported:

I have crashes of kmail when displaying mails (e.g. GMX info mail).
After some research I found that it is related to the qtwebengine when
using nouveau driver.

The reason is, that Qt WebEngine uses multi-threaded OpenGL, which nouveau does
not support.
It also crashes when running on wayland, the cause is not yet known.
Work around these issues by not doing GPU-accelerated rendering in such cases.

This happens on 18.04.3 (bionic), 19.10 (eoan) and 20.04 (focal).

See also: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-41242

There was a patch made: Antonio Larrosa (25 Oct '16 12:04 PM):
"I made the disable-gpu-when-using-nouveau-boo-1005323.diff patch (attached)
for the webengine openSUSE packages. It checks if the openGL driver vendor is
"nouveau" and if it is, it disables the GPU in the web engine context . This
fixes the crashes in my test system.

The patch also adds two environment variables, QT_WEBENGINE_DISABLE_GPU,
which forces disabling the GPU and
QT_WEBENGINE_DISABLE_NOUVEAU_WORKAROUND, which disables the nouveau
detection code, just in case anybody wants to test newer nouveau
releases in the future to see if they behave properly."

I adapted this patch for bionic (5.9.5+dfsg-0ubuntu2) and attach the
modified patch (disable-gpu-when-using-
nouveau_boo_1005323_qtwebengine_5.9.5.diff)

[Bug 1767968] [NEW] systemd-udev cause high cpu load after upgrade to bionic

2018-04-30 Thread Christoph Thielecke
Public bug reported:

After upgraded from xenial to bionic (kernel 4.15.0-20) systemd-udevd
runs with high cpu load in 2 instances (50%, 15%) on Dell Precision
M6500 when wlan switch will be enabled.

With xenial this problem did't happen and Dell bluetooth & wifi (b43)
are working.

After some research I found that /var/log/syslog gets filled with a lot
of messages (see log sample below).

If I modify /lib/udev/rules.d/97-hid2hci.rules (disable rule for
413c:8154, 413c:8158, 413c:8162), restart udev, turn wifi off/on by
hardware switch, the messages go away but the bluetooth adapter will be
not enabled anymore. It seems that udev is running in a loop.

My modification for the rule just was (just as proof):

--- before ---
ATTR{bInterfaceClass}=="03", ATTR{bInterfaceSubClass}=="01",
ATTR{bInterfaceProtocol}=="02", \
  ATTRS{bDeviceClass}=="00", ATTRS{idVendor}=="413c",
ATTRS{bmAttributes}=="e0", \
  RUN+="hid2hci --method=dell --devpath=%p", ENV{HID2HCI_SWITCH}="1"
--- end before ---

--- after ---
ATTR{bInterfaceClass}=="03", ATTR{bInterfaceSubClass}=="01",
ATTR{bInterfaceProtocol}=="02", \
  ATTRS{bDeviceClass}=="00", ATTRS{idVendor}=="413c",
ATTRS{bmAttributes}=="e0", \
  RUN+="/bin/sh", ENV{HID2HCI_SWITCH}="1"
--- end after ---

If you need some experiment or testing I can do (compiling software is
not a problem, I'm a developer).

[Bug 777828] [NEW] add virtual modem support for hylafax

2011-05-05 Thread Christoph Thielecke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hplip

There is no support for faxing using hylafax. It would be nice if hplip
provides optionally a virtual modem for use with hylafax. A good
starting point is the t38project
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/t38modem/) which provides the source
for a virtual modem and connects to sip endpoint on other side. It
should be easy to replace the sip part by driver access.

[Bug 703821] Re: resize of colordialog is not possible

2011-04-22 Thread Christoph Thielecke
Its still nox fixed in libreoffice 3.3.2.

Could you please add the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to
encounter the problem?
Open colordialog for font color/background color on calc and try to resize it.

The screenshots of the color dialog in the program from openoffice.org would
be useful too.
Why? Its a normal color dialog.
