[Bug 1792085] Re: MTP not working/very slow on Bionic
Like others reported here, I observe the same problem (slowness) with my Samsung Galaxy A5 and ubuntu-18.04. I tried Android File Transfer as suggested in comment #10, and it's indeed way faster. That being said, I had to switch my phone to using the "Image transfer protocol" (MTP (or PTP?), not sure what's the actual name in english), and it seems this also sped up access via Thunar. Switching back to "File transfer protocol", the access is again very slow under Thunar. As other complained, this was reported 1 year ago, and apparently no progress? [Bug 1699637] Re: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Hi, I've just upgraded my x86_64 laptop to Ubuntu 17.10, and I believe I'm hitting the same problem. In short, I can't login from the lightdm greeter: it accepts my password, the login process starts and immediately stops and comes back to the lightdm greeter. It worked well before I upgraded I had warnings about pam-kwallet.so, which I "solved" by installing libpam-kwallet and libpam-kwallet5 packages, and manually created /lib/security symlink pointing to /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/security. This fixed the warnings, but not the login problem :( The next thing I noticed is the error message mentioned in this bug report. [Bug 1730753] [NEW] Cannot connect to Canon Pixma MG5150 printer after upgrade to Ubuntu 17.10

[Bug 1661992] [NEW] postfix race condition with DHCP, copies an empty resolv.conf
Public bug reported: Hello, I think there is a race condition at startup between postfix and DHCP (or the network startup code), leading to an empty copy of resolv.conf. Specifically, I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 on an x86_64 workstation, which gets its network configuration via DHCP. I am also using postfix, and since "a few weeks", the outgoing mails are pending in the mail queue until I do 'service postfix restart', which updates postfix's copy of resolv.conf in /var/spool/postfix/etc/resolv.conf. When I say since "a few weeks", it's because I'm not exactly sure when the problem appeared, but for sure it used to work. [Bug 1624715] [NEW] rpc.statd not started automatically
Public bug reported: Hello, I've noticed that if my NFS mounts do not have the 'auto' option, rpc.statd does not start automatically, without a password. When I try to mount the share, I'm prompted for the sudo password, in order to start rpc.statd. If the current user does not know the password, he cannot start rpc.statd and thus cannot mount the share. Here is a sample session: $ mount /media/xxx [a popup window opens to prompt for a password, choose "cancel"] Failed to start rpc-statd.service: Access denied See system logs and 'systemctl status rpc-statd.service' for details. mount.nfs: rpc.statd is not running but is required for remote locking. mount.nfs: Either use '-o nolock' to keep locks local, or start statd. mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified /var/log/syslog contains: Sep 17 20:22:41 mcqueen rpc.statd[5160]: Opening /run/rpc.statd.pid failed: Permission denied $ systemctl status rpc-statd.service ● rpc-statd.service - NFS status monitor for NFSv2/3 locking. Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/rpc-statd.service; enabled; vendor preset Active: inactive (dead) /etc/fstab entry: 192.168.0.5:/volume1/documents /media/xxx nfs user,noauto0 0 Of course, if I enter the sudo password, or if I manually start rpc.statd as root before trying to mount, the mount operation succeeds. Similarly, if I replace "noauto" with "auto", rpc.statd is started during the boot sequence, and everything works. Yet, I'd expect that any user be able to mount this share, since it has the "user" option. I prefer you submit the Makefile patch upstream, since I'm not very familiar with kernel lists. [Bug 1533009] Re: arm64: "unsupported RELA relocation"
We backported fixes for GCC PR63304 (https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=63304) in our 2015.12 snapshot. By default, GCC now uses adrp / ldr or adrp / add instructions to address the literal pools under the use of a command line option, and this mode is on by default. OTOH, CONFIG_ARM64_ERRATUM_843419 removes support for the related relocations from the kernel, hence the error you are seeing. Modifying arch/arm64/Makefile in the kernel sources to have: ifeq ($(CONFIG_ARM64_ERRATUM_843419), y) KBUILD_CFLAGS_MODULE+= -mcmodel=large -mpc-relative-literal-loads endif makes the problem disappear. However, the -mpc-relative-literal-loads option is not recognized by GCC if it doesn't include the patch for GCC PR 63304, so it may not be easy to patch the Makefile. ** Bug watch added: GCC Bugzilla #63304 https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=63304 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1533009 Title: arm64: "unsupported RELA relocation" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gcc-linaro/+bug/1533009/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1232872] [NEW] NFS / lock problem with LibreOffice wth 13.04
Public bug reported: Hi all, I have a problem very similar to what is exposed in question #234375. Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 (host x86_64), I have trouble accessing documents via NFS with LibreOffice. The slash screen display for about 30s, then there is a popup warning saying that another user has opened the file, and offering to open a copy, open as readonly or cancel. The point is, no other user has opened that file (being the only user on my personal PC, but storing my documents on NAS). So I tried the suggestion about adding "noauto" in /etc/fstab and changing /etc/rc.local, with no luck. But the modification of /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice: ## # STAR_PROFILE_LOCKING_DISABLED=1 export STAR_PROFILE_LOCKING_DISABLED # # file locking now enabled by default #SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING=1 # <<- if set to 0 ; same trouble ... #export SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING ### (That is, uncomment the first 2 lines, and commenting the other 2) This works OK. If this is the official way of fixing things, then I guess LibreOffice deserves an update on Ubuntu at least. Thanks. ** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1232872 Title: NFS / lock problem with LibreOffice wth 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1232872/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
