[Bug 1303736] Re: [SRU] Black screen after wakeup from suspending by closing the laptop lid

2014-08-06 Thread ClaudeD
Running Xubuuntu 14.04 32 bits with all the patches as of august 6
(including the fixed package), and ran the light locker settings and I
still have the problem.

The command xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager
/logind-handle-lid-switch returns false.

Suspend from the menu works fine.

2014-01-28 Thread ClaudeD
When I opened the ticket, I also mentioned a workaround (set env. var.
UBUNTU_MENUPROXY to blank) before starting a java application. This
solves the problem for me for smartgit and eclipse.

This is clearly an indication of a problem with Unity menus.

[Bug 1259940] [NEW] Can't switch user after suspend/resume in Saucy : regression in 3.6.1-0ubuntu7

2013-12-11 Thread ClaudeD
Public bug reported:

Since the latest upgrade of gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu Saucy
(3.6.1-0ubuntu7), when I resume my computer from suspend and click
Switch user, I get a black screen with arrow still visible.

Downgrading to 3.6.1-0ubuntu6 solves the problem : when clicking Switch
user I'm redirected to the login screen where I can choose the user.

Ubuntu version : 13.10
Kernel version : 3.11.0-14-generic
Video card : AMD Madison [Mobility Radeon HD 5730 / 6570M] running with Radeon
driver.

Have a look at this thread : http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/246619/

Seems like a new 'locking' mechanism has been added to xtable recently
preventing concurrent access on iptables.

I ran a debug on libvirtd and it could probably be solved by using the
-w option in the $IPT command (wherever this is called):

[Bug 1245322] [NEW] UFW blocks libvirtd default network from starting automatically in Saucy

2013-10-27 Thread ClaudeD
Public bug reported:

Running KVM under Ubuntu 13.10 64 bits.

When UFW is enabled, the default network won't start automatically when
set to do so. Manual startup of the network must be done before starting
the first guest.

[Bug 1240765] Re: KVM reports this message after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 : apparmor=DENIED operation=capable parent=1 profile=/usr/sbin/libvirtd

2013-10-17 Thread ClaudeD
I had a network problem with KVM (natted network would not start after the
upgrade) and so I made the change to apparmor. This did not correct my
network problem and I had to delete and recreate the network in the GUI. So
I'm not 100% sure if it's related or not but the error message disapeared
after the fix.

[Bug 1241101] [NEW] Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2013-10-17 Thread ClaudeD
Public bug reported:

Running smartgit 4.6.4 on 13.10 64 bits. After registering the product,
smartgit crash when trying to open a new repository. Java error log :

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:

oops)
# Problematic frame:
# C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x389c0] g_str_hash+0x0

I tried different version of Java (Oracle v7 and v6 jre) with same
result. Also, Eclipse display blank menus so there's a general java
problem with displays.

2013-10-17 Thread ClaudeD
I found a workaround : if I start smartgit like this, it won't crash :

UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= ./smartgit.sh

So the issue seem related to appmenu.

apt-get autoremove

 IfModule mod_fcgid.c

[Bug 1162836] Re: $PATH does not contain /usr/games - /etc/environment not sourced or environment not preserved

2013-04-03 Thread ClaudeD
Gunnar,

Not at my usual workstation right now but from what I remember
/etc/default/locale and ~/.pam_environment are the same and looks fine
(settings to french language).

Steve's comment is interesting : our setup is with PBIS 7 (the successor
of likewise-open) and it was installed with the PowerBroker package.
However we are not using ecryptfs.

In /etc/pam.d/common-session, session sufficient pam_lsass.so should
be replaced by what? optional?

I can confirm this bug on a Precise installation with the new Quantal

Linux laptop 3.5.0-23-generic #35~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 25 17:15:33 UTC

laptop:~$ lspci | grep VGA
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Madison
[Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series]

The problem occurs after resume and can be easily triggered with ctrl-
alt-f1 ctrl-alt-f3 combinaison.

Seems like the guys at Fedora fixed it already :

TV8 now has a daemon and I think it reconnects periodically. Also, one
of TV8 scripts tvw_main runs lsb_release -a.

[Bug 995372] Re: switching external monitors impossible

2012-09-25 Thread ClaudeD
Did some more testing : it only happens on the first login after boot.
On subsequent login, gnome-settings don't crash and dual monitor
configuration is ok.
