[Bug 1942684] Re: Kernel 5.14.X / 5.13.14 fails to boot
Had a similar issue on a 20.04 install today after updating to 5.14. Woke it up from suspend on 5.10.0-1057-oem. Rebooted once (some screen issues that turned out to be the screen), installed updates via update- manager, rebooted using the new 5.14.0-1024-oem kernel and it just hung. Black screen, blinking cursor. I noticed that the lenovo splash screen did not come up after selecting the 5.14 kernel in grub. It does with 5.10. Going back to 5.10 works as before. I have a kern.log saved from the before and after the update, but do I need to make sure it is sanitized for secure boot keys and such? Also, it should be noted that it is a dual GPU system with an intel and nvidia. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1942684 Title: Kernel 5.14.X / 5.13.14 fails to boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1942684/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1871268] Re: Installation fails with Could not configure 'libc6:i386'. , E:Could not perform immediate configuration on 'libgcc-s1:i386'
I have a similar problem. For me the Ubuntu 20.04 installer would consistently crash at 90% (regardless of which hard drive I installed it to). When I followed the instructions to report the bug, it led me here. I was able to circumvent the problem by choosing "minimal installation" and NOT "download updates while installing". That made the installation succeed. It might be caused by bad hardware on my system. I don't know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871268 Title: Installation fails with Could not configure 'libc6:i386'. , E:Could not perform immediate configuration on 'libgcc-s1:i386' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1871268/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1617919] Re: mdadm segfault error 4 in libc-2.23.so
I just got the following feedback from Stéphane Graber (LXC and LXD project leader): "It's not a bug for it to be installed as the Ubuntu image we run is bit for bit identical to what's run on the cloud or on physical servers and that's on purpose. mdadm is supposed to be configured in a way that it won't actually start in a container, if it does, that's a bug. I suspect the issue here is that the cronjob wasn't made aware that mdadm doesn't run in a container and so attempts to run despite mdadm being stopped and it not having any access to the devices it needs." -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1617919 Title: mdadm segfault error 4 in libc-2.23.so To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mdadm/+bug/1617919/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1617919] Re: mdadm segfault error 4 in libc-2.23.so
Ok, I think I made some progress tracking this thing down: On the host, where I experienced the bug, I have an LXD/LXC container running. It turns out that mdadm is installed by default inside a container created by "lxc launch ubunut:16.04 c1" And when I call /etc/cron.daily/mdadm inside the container I get the segfault which is also logged in the host system. So I think there are two bugs here: a) mdadm should not segfault b) mdadm should not be in the container by default (makes no sense, right?) [Bug 1517983] [NEW] Attempt to unlock mutex that was not locked, Or: Do not release the GDK lock if it hasn't been acquired yet
Public bug reported: In trusty, gtk+2.0 is currently on version 2.24.23-0ubuntu. The commit specified here[1] fixes a bug where using libgtk+2.0 in an unidiomatic manner leads to a SIGABRT when starting the app. I know that unidiomatic behaviour is not supported per-se, but there are a whole bunch of "legacy" apps that are hard to update. Examples include IntelliJ IDEA, OpenXenManager, and numerous others. Is there a chance of getting libgtk+2 updated to a version that in includes [1], or getting that commit backported to trusty? The fix seems to have landed in upstream[2] and utopic[3], but not in trusty. [Bug 1309875] [NEW] Touchpad not recognized after upgrade 13.10-14.04
Public bug reported: I'm not perfectly sure the problem lies here, but after reading several arch linux bug repports that points towards a kernel issue, I'm reporting it here. [Bug 1174240] [NEW] Authorization dialog pops up if wifi network disappears
Public bug reported: Network-manager is set up to auto-connect to wireless network (wpa/shared key). This works as expected. If the network shuts down (just turn off the access-point), after a couple of minutes, network-manager pops up an Authorization required by wireless network dialog for the network that was just shut down. This does not make any sense. It is not possible to authorize and connect to a not existing network ;-) To make things worse. If the network comes back up (turn on the access point again), network-manager WILL connect again, as it should. But the dialog does not disapear. We are using Ubuntu for a digital signage application. So if the wifi network is flaky, the pop-up will emerge. And even if a connection is made later, the pop-up will still be there in the middle of the screen. Expected behaviour: - Do not pop-up an authorization-dialog for a disapearing connection. I added i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 to my cmdline now, and it seems to be working fine (but rc6 was the whole reason for upgrading to precise) running: Linux 3.2.0-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 3 18:33:15 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux on gnome-shell ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-22.35-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-22-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Chipset: sandybridge-m-gt2 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Sun Apr 8 19:14:06 2012 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu ExecutablePath: /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Beta amd64 (20120328) InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python2.7 MachineType: Sony Corporation VPCCB27FX ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py ProcEnviron: ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.2.0-22-generic root=UUID=cbdd84dc-16d7-4c29-8800-d59c3f2ec4b0 ro i815.i915_enable_rc6=0 SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-intel Title: [sandybridge-m-gt2] False GPU lockup UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: dmi.bios.date: 05/25/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: R1101V2 dmi.board.asset.tag: N/A dmi.board.name: VAIO dmi.board.vendor: Sony Corporation dmi.board.version: N/A dmi.chassis.asset.tag: N/A dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Sony Corporation dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrR1101V2:bd05/25/2011:svnSonyCorporation:pnVPCCB27FX:pvrC60962WN:rvnSonyCorporation:rnVAIO:rvrN/A:cvnSonyCorporation:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: VPCCB27FX dmi.product.version: C60962WN dmi.sys.vendor: Sony Corporation i915_error_state: Error: [Errno 12] Cannot allocate memory version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.7.4-0ubuntu3 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.32-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 8.0.2-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 8.0.2-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.0-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.99~git20111219.aacbd629-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20111201+b5534a1-1build2 ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-crash false-gpu-hang freeze precise ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/976713 Title: [sandybridge-m-gt2] False GPU lockup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/976713/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You should just close this bug. It hasn't happened for quite some time and I can no longer duplicate it under any kernal release in the last 18 months or more. Cameron Lauseng On 06.04.2012 20:59, Christopher M. Penalver wrote: claus...@foundtechnologies.com, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Maverick reached EOL on April 2012. Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in a supported release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. [Bug 953089] Re: Unity 5.6: key bindings (such as Super) don't work on empty workspace or on slow/loaded systems
Problem is also found here on a somewhat slow Samsung N150P netbook. I have pulled-down the package-source. [Bug 953089] Re: Unity 5.6: key bindings (such as Super) don't work on empty workspace or on slow/loaded systems
I just tried to adjust a few values inside LauncherController.cpp - the ones commented out being the old values const int super_tap_duration = 450; //250 const int launcher_minimum_show_duration = 1450; //1250 const int shortcuts_show_delay = 950; //750 const int ignore_repeat_shortcut_duration = 450; //250 I really don't know what I'm doing. However, I think this actually made the super button work much better on my slow Samsung N150P. But it seems like the success-rate is inverse proportional with the load of the netbook. E.g. starting a few background programs like firefox/youtube, makes the superbutton 'unbound' again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/953089 Title: Unity 5.6: key bindings (such as Super) don't work on empty workspace or on slow/loaded systems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/953089/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
