I have fixed the issue. The graphics card seems to be automatically installed as a restricted driver when you boot Ubuntu, as the graphics seem fine, but really it isn't. The firmware appeared in the Restricted Drivers, but appeared as 'In Use', yet was unchecked. Upon checking the item, the tag changes to 'Needs Restart'. When shutting down, I noticed an error message in the part where the background is black, and white text appears on the screen (sorry, I don't know the correct term). In this error message, instructions direct you to a website (with a long url), giving you about 5 seconds to write it down. There are several punctuation, grammatical, and spelling errors in these sentences. I propose changing it to something like: Take notes as you puzzle through a problem.
