[Bug 152456] rt73 disconnects and crashes usb

2007-10-13 Thread Codester
Public bug reported:

Background
I have an averatec 2370 laptop which has the Ralink rt73 wireless chipset
connected through some kind of internal usb bus.
with edgy and feisty I used ndiswrapper because the linux ralink drivers didn't
work well for me.

I installed gutsy with tribe 5 and was very impressed. The wireless
worked out of the box and the detected my screen correctly and after
selecting the nvidia restricted driver suspend works on this laptop (I
can't think of anything that doesn't as of gutsy).

I noticed some times my network will just quit working and won't
reconnect even if i plug it into a cable nothing works and I have to
reboot.

Here is the weirdest thing though if I just select reboot most of the
time when it reboots it won't even see that a wireless card exists even
if I reboot directly into feisty still nothing I usually have to turn
off wait a few seconds and turn back on

sometimes if I run lsusb after it quits working lsusb just hangs and
shows nothing

I have tried to reproduce this but I can't consistently reproduce it.
Sometimes it happens quick, sometimes after 30 min, sometimes after
1hour, and sometimes I turn off my computer before it happens. I'm sure
if I left in on long enough it would eventually happen.

I've waited this long to report it to see if I could reproduce it but I
can't so I had to get it reported before the release

this really is a show stopper for me on what is other wise a great
release for this laptop

Sorry to post so many comments on my own bug but I just found the kernel
bug policies and thought I'd attach those files and say I think this is
the same bug as #133486

[Bug 152456] Re: rt73 disconnects and crashes usb

2007-10-13 Thread Codester
ok here is dmesg and lspci after the network has failed
the closest thing I have to being able to reproduce it is
I open up firefox and go to the kubuntu website
I mount my file server that is using samba
I download a torrent of gutsy (I've done it with beta and RC) to the fileserver
open the torrent with ktorrent
select to save the torrent on my fileserver
and it starts
wait possibly browse the web

BTW I'm using kubuntu

[Bug 63905] Re: mouse cursor disappears

2007-09-08 Thread Codester
I too have this problem with Gutsy Tribe 5 and the Nv driver I have an Nvidia
6100 Graphics card I have never noticed this before because I have used the
nvidia driver but I noticed the the nv driver almost looks crisper IMO but I
think I will change the the proprietary if it will fix it
I also have it disappear after using adept or synaptic but I have not tried to
reproduce that yet but I have reproduced the logout part

[Bug 109507] Re: xorg eat 100% of the CPU when I use superkaramba and lock my desktop for a while ([apport] Xorg crashed with signal 5)

2007-06-25 Thread Codester
I think I have the same problem
I'm running feisty and I never saw anything like this under edgy
I have 2 superkaramba applets open and when I'm using my computer xorg eats
about 10-15% of my cpu and I've noticed when I leave my laptop on overnight
that something eats enough cpu to scale up my processor to full speed and make
my fan start spinning full speed
sometimes after my screen has gone to screen saver(actually after it has turned
off the screen) and I come and wiggle the mouse it shows my desktop but I can't
do anything(could be due to xorg eating 100% not sure though) I have to
ctrl-alt-backspace to do anything
top shows that xorg right now is using 10-11% and superkaramba is using 5-10%

[Bug 108971] Re: software raid init script problems

2007-05-07 Thread Codester
I believe I have the same problem
after the
Starting up ...
Loading, please wait...
mdadm: No devices listed in conf file were found.
error something about kinit would come up and I would boot the problem came
when I tried to simulate drive failure by removing one drive (with the machine
turned off) I could then not boot it would hang for several minuted after the
mdadm: No devices listed in conf file were found. error and drop me into a
busybox shell from there I could run mdrun and start my array but then I could
not continue to boot with ctrl-d
remember it would boot fine with both drives
I tried a fix involving sleep 10 in the init scripts or something but that
didn't seem to help
