[Bug 1974237] [NEW] Telegram Desktop crashes when switching between accounts.

2022-05-19 Thread M Conrad
Public bug reported:

Telegram Desktop, deb version, will start up and display the last
account used. If you try and switch to a different account the program
crashes. This also happens when navigating other parts of the UI.

[Bug 1969988] [NEW] OpenSMTPd not working with OpenSSL 3

2022-04-22 Thread Alex Conrad
Public bug reported:

So, I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 earlier today, and just noticed all mail
is dismissed with this cryptic error:

smtp disconnected reason="io-error: error:0A080006:SSL routines::EVP
lib"

Running smtpd -dv -Tall gives these errors:

debug: SSL library error: io_dispatch_accept_tls:SSL_accept: error:02B3:rsa
routines::missing private key
debug: SSL library error: io_dispatch_accept_tls:SSL_accept:
error:1C880004:Provider routines::RSA libdebug: SSL library error:
io_dispatch_accept_tls:SSL_accept: error:0A080006:SSL routines::EVP lib
smtp: 0x623af4b1f100: IO_ERROR
6dd245e51e9972cc smtp disconnected reason="io-error: error:0A080006:SSL
routines::EVP lib"

Some googling led me to this:

https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/merge_requests/25393

I'd say this is pretty severe, as opensmtpd doesn't seem to work at all on the
latest stable Ubuntu. My mailserver is down. I had to create a temporary mail
just to create this account to report this ticket.

So, this is on Ubuntu 22.04, with opensmtpd 6.8.0p2-4build1. I expect mail to
be delivered, instead it is dismissed.
This only affects mail delivered through smtp. Local mail works fine. But just
local mail is kinda pointless (:

*How* does one recreate the "applications, places, system" appearance?

Those options are disabled in Mate Tweak.

I ended up deleting the app and installing the snap as a workaround - which
is working so far without any issues.

Trying to build and run a libgdx desktop app.

I consistently get Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-lookup.c: 105:
check_match: Assertion `version->filename == NULL || ! _dl_name_match_p

When run using AdoptOpenJDK with toolchain override the issue does not
arise.

```
javaLauncher = javaToolchains.launcherFor {
languageVersion = JavaLanguageVersion.of(11)
vendor = JvmVendorSpec.ADOPTOPENJDK
}
For whatever reason, I don't have a core dump generated.
[Bug 1874272] Re: Stage "searching for obsolete software" takes a very long time (30 minutes)
2021-04-23 Thread Conrad Knight
A google search brought me here... Was this ever solved? I'm  currently
having the same problem, upgrading from 20.10 to 21.04. "Searching for
obsolete software" was displayed about an hour and a half ago, and the
line below says " eading state information... 52%" (I assume there's a
display bug in the output of that last line and there should be a
leading 'R').
One cpu is pegged at 100%, running the upgrade process. /var/log/dist-
[Bug 1875909] Re: LyX can't build PDFs / missing begin document
2020-04-30 Thread M Conrad
I have narrowed this down to having UTF-8 characters in the path where
the document is stored.
This is a new issue for me. I have for years been using this folder
structure with the UTF-8 name of "ᏣᎳᎩ".
What is really perplexing is the fact that LyX copies all the necessary
files to run the xelatex to a temp folder in /tmp, then the xelatex
fails. If I run xelatex in that same temp folder with those same files,
the xelatex command completes successfully.
It is acting like some python thingy is assuming that things are encoded
as iso-8859-1 or something?
[Bug 1875909] [NEW] LyX can't build PDFs / missing begin document
2020-04-29 Thread M Conrad
Public bug reported:
Reconfigure results in:
```

  File "/usr/share/lyx/configure.py", line 1899, in
ret = checkLatexConfig(lyx_check_config and LATEX, bool_docbook)
  File "/usr/share/lyx/configure.py", line 1420, in checkLatexConfig

```
Running 'python3 -tt "/usr/share/lyx/configure.py" --binary-
dir="/usr/bin/"' in a terminal does *not* result in the error LyX is
reporting and instead appears to complete successfully.
[Bug 1856369] [NEW] [SRU] Add riscv64 support to cputable for xenial
2019-12-13 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:
[ Justification ]
Much like we did for arm64 in
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/1.16.1.2ubuntu7.1 and for ppc64el in
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/1.16.1.2ubuntu7.2, we need to add
riscv64 support for xenial (and up) so dpkg running on LP infrastructure
machines can understand the new arch.
[ Regression Potential ]
This is effectively a 1-line addition to a lookup table (and a twiddle of a
testsuite to match), so the regression potential is basically nil.
[ Test Case ]
Check that the output of "dpkg-architecture -ariscv64" matches the output of
same on bionic and up.
[Bug 1851858] Re: adds ESM to sources.list.d unconditionally, despite it being x86-only
2019-11-08 Thread Adam Conrad
If we update the archives (which seems to be the current plan of
attack), I'm not sure we need to update the tool to not enable it.  It
would be nice if it mentioned that the arch you're on isn't supported,
so you don't expect kernel updates and the like, but it's harmless to
let those people get tzdata and distro-info-data updated.
Let's see how the archive hackery goes on Monday, though.
[Bug 1851858] [NEW] adds ESM to sources.list.d unconditionally, despite it being x86-only
2019-11-08 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:
The shiny new ubuntu-advantage-tools client adds ESM to sources.list.d
unconditionally on all architectures, but the ESM archive itself
currently only publishes for x86.  One of those two things is a bug.
Personally, I think it's a bug we don't publish ESM for all the same
arches as we released for (even if we don't update all the packages for
all arches, people would at least get things like tzdata updates), but
if the intent is to be strictly x86-only, then ubuntu-advantage-tools is
very much in the wrong here, as it creates a situation where apt-get
update fails on all !x86.
[Bug 1824407] Re: remount of multilower moved pivoted-root overlayfs root, results in I/O errors on some modified files
2019-11-06 Thread Adam Conrad
While there may be arguments for synthesizing UUIDs in various fs
drivers, or creating them in the first place in fs-creation tools, I
agree that if overlayfs has a hard dependency on UUIDs for uniquely
identifying layers, it needs to fill in the gaps where the previous
tools/drivers failed to provide.
So, yeah, I think Colin's on the right track here with making overlayfs
itself fix its own use-case, which will cover any future filesystem/tool
that otherwise fails to UUID itself.
My only review of the above is that you might want to mix a monotonic or
random seed in with your superblock when generating your fake UUIDs, in
case someone does something like stacking multiple empties on top of
each other, or some other madness where you effectively have the same
superblock more than once at the RO level, but need to identify them as
different.
I completely missed the verification ping here in the sea of other
verified as quickly as I can, but if you need to make a revert/ship call
before I can, the patches should be pretty harmless even if they don't
fix the bug, so I'd vote for keep and ship and we can fix later if we
missed a bit.
[Bug 1850851] [NEW] [SRU] ubuntu-release-upgrader no longer produces tarballs
2019-10-31 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:
[ SRU Justification ]
ubuntu-release-upgrades was unintentionally relying on a debhelper
bug/misfeature where mixing and matching dh(1) and explicit make targets would
lead "dh binary" to call a binary-indep target in debian/rules, despite no
dependency being declared.  This dh(1) misfeature went away when arch/indep
handling was reworked in debhelper 12.5, and ubuntu-release-upgrader's
binary-indep target (which generated the release-upgrader tarball) hasn't been
called since.
[ Test Case ]
1) Make sure the release-upgrader tarball is built, included in .changes, and
published to the archive.
2) debdiff .deb binaries from this upload and the last to ensure nothing else
has gone amiss.
[ Regression Potential ]
Fairly low.  This is just fixing some broken assumptions about makefiles and
debhelper to deterministically return us to the situation we were arriving at
by accident before.
[ Other Info ]
In doing this, and testing interaction between arch and indep targets and dh(1)
itself, I noted that there were a few more small fixes to be made which are
no-ops in the current package, but are ticking time-bombs if the package ever
grows a non-arch-all package, so I'm including those fixes too.
The testcase here doesn't seem to be working (or, rather, failing) for
me, which makes it harder to investigate this.  It passes on both sid
[Bug 1847852] Re: lxd group is added to too many products
2019-10-31 Thread Adam Conrad
livecd-rootfs (2.620) eoan; urgency=medium
  * Limit the lxd group to images with an installer; it's less appropriate
for random tarball images, which are configured in ways we don't know.
[Bug 1848768] Re: 19.10: cache is empty. You need to run "apt-file update" first.
2019-10-30 Thread Adam Conrad
This should be fixed on primary mirrors
({us,gb}.{ports,archive}.ubuntu.com) as of right around now, and should
propagate to non-Canonical mirrors over the next few hours.
We'll leave my inability to initially reproduce it as an argument
between me and my laptop.
