[Bug 1968165] Re: Epiphany snap and App Armor permissions spamming my log files

2022-04-07 Thread Craig Maloney
Thank you for moving this to the right place. I wasn't sure what my
options were.

The link on https://snapcraft.io/epiphany needs changing as well so that
the folks with the unfortunate name collision don't get blessed with
irrelevant bug reports. :)

Thanks again!

Thanks Ubuntu Snap Store for directing me to the wrong location.

I searched online for a fix but to no avail.

Is there a way to get these messages to stop, or perhaps a way to allow
epiphany access to whatever it needs to access so my log messages may
live in peace?

Thank you!

[Bug 1829625] Re: Vagrant box startup timeout due to no serial port

2020-06-24 Thread Craig Maloney
This issue bit me yesterday. The fix provided in for the Vagrantfile in
comment 5 worked. This is incredibly frustrating to realize, though I
think the issue is more with the vagrant folks not having the serial
port. Is there a way to coordinate to fix this?

I'll also note that generic/ubuntu2004 doesn't seem to have this issue,
so perhaps making the Vagrant images not require the serial port would
be an approach?

[Bug 1590547] [NEW] LXC package for trusty no longer has configuration files

2016-06-08 Thread Craig Maloney
Public bug reported:

Did an upgrade this morning to the latest LXC package (via the updates
channel).

LXC Package 2.0.1-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.04.1 no longer has the configuration files
under /usr/share/lxc/config. This causes lxc-ls to complain about missing
template files.

lxc-ls: parse.c: lxc_file_for_each_line: 57 Failed to parse config: lxc.include

Do I need to change the container's configuration to point to a new location?

[Bug 870097] Re: Using sudo with virtualenvwrapper causes $HOME/.virtualenvs/hook.log to have have wrong acces rights

2012-12-11 Thread Craig Maloney
Unfortunately if you use the Ubuntu package, you don't get the benefit
of using what appears to be the solution:

https://bitbucket.org/dhellmann/virtualenvwrapper/issue/62/

That's because the bash_completion.d/virtualenvwrapper script is run for
you, and sets up the environment.

It's currently impossible for someone using the Ubuntu packaged version
of virtualenvwrapper to not source the virtualenvwrapper completion
script as root, and thereby cause the hook.log to become owned by root
when the log file is re-created. You'd either have to disable
completions (which degrades functionality) or stop using the Ubuntu
package (which also degrades functionality).

[Bug 842110] [NEW] Banshee freezes on start, requires force quit to exit

Public bug reported:

When starting up Banshee on an upgraded oneiric machine, it doesn't show

happening.

[Bug 800910] Re: Kernel Upgrade forces removal of grub-efi due to missing recommends entry

2011-07-18 Thread Craig Maloney
Any reason why this isn't getting fixed in Natty? I just managed to
upgrade my machine into a paperweight, and would really like it to
eventually boot at some point.

Work-arounds, recommendations very much appreciated.

Correct, that's how it works now, but it would be nice (hence, why this
bug was marked as a wishlist) if it (or some other tool) would be able
to search remote PPAs.

[Bug 343118] Re: can't load magnatune catalogue

2009-11-30 Thread Craig Maloney
Have noticed that in Karmic, the catalog no longer loads for Magnatune.
I fixed it on my machine by running:

mkdir ~/.cache/rhythmbox/magnatune

This appears to have worked, as now the catalog loads.

Not sure why it doesn't create the directory by default.

[Bug 481052] Re: Can't open DS9 in Karmic

2009-11-28 Thread Craig Maloney
I think there are a few items in play which is preventing this from
working

saods9 pckage in Karmic is 4.0, and installs tcl/tk 8.4 (along with wish
8.4). Unfortunately, ds9 4.0 (And even the more recent 5.7) is written
with tcl/tk 8.5. This is a false dependency. I think there are two ways
to get around this:

1) Use a later version of ds9 (5.7 is current), and
2) Update the package to use tcl/tk 8.5

It appears this is packaged up with Debian, so I'm not sure where to go
to get attention upstream.

[Bug 420871] [NEW] Karmic VM does not have any audio at all

2009-08-28 Thread Craig Maloney
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I'm no longer getting any audio via my Karmic VM. The VM is hosted via
VirtualBox 3.0.4. I have verified that the mixer settings are correct. I
have also started tracking the https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-
dev/+archive/ppa PPA, but am still not receiving audio.

Enclosed are the specs for the host machine. The VM unfortunately isn't
allowing me to file using ubuntut-bug pulseaudio anymore because ubuntu-
bug no longer thinks the pulseaudio package from the PPA is genuine
Ubuntu.

The VM host is set with Pulseaudio, and the ICH AC97 sound devices.

Please advise what more information is needed, and how to best post the
information from the Karmic VM.

Thanks!

[Bug 200392] Re: Extreme memory leak in Pidgin when attempting to play sound

2008-11-05 Thread Craig Maloney
I've noticed this behavior with Pidgin 2.5.2 under Intrepid.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Bring up pidgin and top
2) Sort top by memory usage
3) Bring up the sound tab under preferences
4) Make sure you have a sound event selected for this next part
5) click on preview and note pidgin's memory usage

Do it several times for added effect.

[Bug 212662] Re: telepathy-haze crashed with SIGSEGV in purple_account_get_password()

2008-08-21 Thread Craig Maloney
Yes, it appears to still occasionally crash. Worse, if it crashes,
Empathy will not display any messages. I had a conversation where the
other party was responding to me, but I wasn't receiving their messages
at all. This is with Pidgin 2.4.3. If the work-around for AIM is to use
libpurple, perhaps the integration needs to be more robust and
gracefully recover from such issues.
