[Bug 1842190] [NEW] upgrade to 19.04
Public bug reported: I am trying to upgrate to Ubuntu 19, mainly because my Ubuntu 18 installation went crazy, and the Intel graphics driver has decided to play tricks. I can now see many small (dashed) horizontal balck lines on my monitor. But the upgrade fails and I am asked to use ppa-purge to get read of unofficial software. I have removed all unofficial software I could find, but it is still not letting me upgrade. Re: [Bug 1534374] Re: unable to upgrade to 15.04 due to libstdc++6 SRU
As I keep telling people: Why upgrade since various things will surely stop working (as I learned from my experience)? If it ain't broke don't fix it... Long live Ubuntu 14.04 - I miss it! Re: [Bug 1534374] Re: unable to upgrade to 15.04 due to libstdc++6 SRU
Do not upgrade at all! Why bother? Many things will no longer work even after upgrading using the install disk, unless you have the latest PC model with lots of RAM (my 2 GB are not enough)... Re: [Bug 1534374] Re: unable to upgrade to 15.04 due to libstdc++6 SRU
I used Synaptic to remove libstdc++6 and after removing several packages, I was offered the chance to remove libstdc++6 after all. But a warning was given that a large number of packages will also be removed, warning which I decided to ignore. Big mistake! It started to remove everything (15 GB of packages) and I was left with an unstable system. Not even a memory disc will be recognised/loaded. So I installed my Ubuntu15.10 (32 bit to be safe) and lost my data. Now this gives other headaches: my Intel video driver is not good enough + RAM problems (I have 2 GB - maybe not enough for Ubuntu 15.10) + applications crashing due to the Intel driver. I miss my old Ubuntu 14.04 installation and my old libstdc++6. So please DO NOT fix this bug, as it saves people major headaches later on. Thanks. [Bug 1537462] [NEW] upgrading from 14.04 32-bit
Public bug reported: grep Broken /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log contains a very long list of packages which I hope I do not have to remove them one by one. I kept trying to use the packagemanager to fix broken packages, before each upgrade attempt, but although it said it fixed the broken packages, it actually did not help. The upgrade kept failing. I have the 32bit version of Ubuntu14.04. I attached the lon output of cat /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log Thank you for any help or suggestions, Cristian ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: ubuntu-release-upgrader-core 1:0.220.8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-76.120-generic 3.13.11-ckt30 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-76-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.19 Architecture: i386 CrashDB: ubuntu CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sun Jan 24 08:39:20 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-08-12 (1259 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release i386 (20120423) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: ubuntu-release-upgrader UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2016-01-24 (0 days ago) mtime.conffile..etc.update.manager.release.upgrades: 2016-01-24T08:06:30.126397 ** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug dist-upgrade i386 trusty ** Attachment added: "output of cat /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1537462/+attachment/484/+files/out.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1537462 Title: upgrading from 14.04 32-bit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1537462/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
