I do not know whether such a reaction of the system to this problem. When switching layouts in the active search box in the gedit, the search bar disappears. William, I have a few thoughts on the impossibility of keyboard input. I remembered that after upgrading to 13.10 this bug was fixed by removing or restart ibus. But in 14.04 removing ibus will remove many other packages. William, it can be download here (http://www.netup.ru/UTM5/demo.php) after registration. Sorry, but i can't found english version of this page. I mean, after installing packages from PPA and then restart the computer for some time it works great, but after a while, the characters no longer be input as if the application freezes. However, I can freely push the buttons and select menu items with the mouse cursor.
