[Bug 436076] Re: system clock not adjusted when hardware clock in localtime

2012-05-01 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Getting this bug in kubuntu 12.04. My locale is VET, UTC=no in rcS.
Also, plymouth blinks so it doesn't get to show the error, but I know it's that
one, so I have to boot to recovery mode and run fsck, which messes up the clock
in order to adjust it to the present...

[Bug 784232] [NEW] indicator-datetime shows time in 24h format even if I set it to show it in 12h

2011-05-17 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-datetime

When I try to set the time to show in 12h format (with am/pm), it still
shows the time in 24h format, unless I tick the checkbox about showing
seconds too (and I don't like it showing the seconds). I recorded and
attached a screencap about it.

[Bug 781422] [NEW] When enabling emblems in the scale plugin, emblems have different sizes for each application

[Bug 689951] [NEW] sorting of processes in ascending or descending order messes up when a new process is executed

2010-12-13 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

I use gnome system monitor always sorted in descending order, by
application's RAM usage. But it's pretty annoying that when a new
process is executed, it reaches the top of the process list, overriding
my preferences.

I've attached a screenshot showing g-s-m sorted as I already explained,
and 2 processes that are placed where they shouldn't, after opening
banshee and shutter (the screenshot tool).

I think this could qualify as a papercut, I don't know.

[Bug 418470] Re: USB Gamepad detected as mouse (Speedlink 360 style)

2010-12-12 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
I'm having this bug as well, with a genius maxfire g-12u.
Running ubuntu maverick 64 bits, and the weird thing is that it worked normally
yesterday, maybe it's bugged now because the joystick was already plugged when
I turned on the computer, and yesterday I plugged when I wanted to play, with
ubuntu already running.

[Bug 647811] [NEW] nvidia-settings ignores refresh rate from xorg.conf each time I turn the computer on

2010-09-25 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-settings

The refresh rate of the screen always sets to 60Hz when I start ubuntu
(regardless of what xorg.conf says), and I have to manually set it to 85Hz with
nvidia-settings every time I login if I don't want to get a headache. Running
nvidia-settings as root does not work, because even if I save the xorg.conf,
the next time starts again with 60hz as the refresh rate.
I upgraded from ubuntu lucid to maverick beta, and this and the flaw plymouth
are the only issues that haven't been already solved with updates.
I attached the xorg.conf, please tell me if other file or info is needed.

[Bug 577937] [NEW] Pidgin main window and notifications show a number code instead of the name when a contact logs in for the first time

2010-05-09 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin-facebookchat

It's more of a aesthetic change than a bug, but when a contact logs in for the
first time in the session, pidgin facebookchat shows a long number code instead
of a name in the notifications, indicator applet, and in the tooltip in the
main window, as shown in the following screenshots:
http://i.imgur.com/d42X4.jpg

After the contact logs off and in again it shows the name without
problems in the notifications, but the number still shows in the main
window tooltip.

Disregard my post (#73). I don't know why, but i didn't have any
plymouth theme installed (i never touched plymouth packages), I can
confirm this bug is fixed because when I installed the ubuntu logo theme
it worked, altough with a slightly bigger screen resolution. I don't
care about that as long as it works.

2010-04-13 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
I tried this steps, and it isn't working for me:

Step 1: we must edit the /etc/default/grub file.
Open a terminal and paste this:
 sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
On line #18, uncomment (uncomment = remove the # in front of the line(
#GRUB_GFXMODE=640x480 and change the resolution to whatever you want. Here is
how it should look:
 GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768
Step 2: edit the /etc/grub.d/00_header file.
 sudo gedit /etc/grub.d/00_header
And find the following line: gfxmode=${GRUB_GFXMODE} (it's line 103 on my
computer) and under it, paste this:
 set gfxpayload=keep
Step 3: update Grub 2:
To update the GRUB, simply run the following command:
sudo update-grub
Once you complete the above steps, restart the computer and you should see the
nice Plymouth screen like in the screenshot in the beginning of the post.

I'm still seeing blue progress bars instead of a nice plymouth splash...
If I revert the changes, do you guys think plymouth should work? Or what
can I do to fix that?

unplugging usb devices. I unplugged my USB gamepad too and the boot was REALLY
faster. I guess this is a hal bug, or whatever handles the devices you plug
into the computer.

[Bug 551712] Re: slow transition from gdm to gnome desktop in ubuntu lucid

2010-04-07 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
I already fixed the bug, thanks to people on ubuntuforums.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9090921
The reason was that i had in the BIOS an inexistent floppy drive enabled. After
disabling it the load takes about 3 seconds, in contrast to the 15~25secs
before.
But i think it still needs a fix because i didn't have this kind of problem in
karmic or older versions.

[Bug 551712] Re: slow transition from gdm to gnome desktop in ubuntu lucid

2010-04-05 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
I still have the same slow load, but I noticed something today, i don't know if
it's relevant. Immediately after typing my password and when i'm waiting for
the desktop to load, i can summon gnome do and move around the cube with
compiz...
I'd like this bug to be taken into account, because we can't brag about having
the fastest boot times when It's slower than in karmic for some...

[Bug 553724] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties show incorrect previews about window controls position

2010-04-01 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Currently, gnome-appearance-properties shows incorrectly the previews of the
window controls' position, as in the screenshot:
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5484/pantallazo04.jpg

It should show the previews according to the metacity configuration of each
theme, like this (edited in gimp by me):
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/6770/pantallazo03.jpg

This will help people who don't feel so comfortable with the new
metacity's layout, so they can see that we still have themes with
controls on the right.

I'd like to add something to this bug. The progressbar is supposed to be fixed

[Bug 551712] [NEW] slow transition from gdm to gnome desktop in ubuntu lucid

2010-03-30 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I'm not sure whether the problem is gdm, ureadahead, plymouth,
nautilus... But the thing is after I select my user from gdm and type my
password, it pasts like 15 seconds just showing the default wallpaper
until if finally shows the whole desktop, and it's not that it's has to
load that much stuff, and my computer has decent specs...

The only non default programs my system loads at startup are dockbarx, a
tweaked compiz, and deluge in order to seed my torrents. And my computer
has a 1.8ghz core 2 duo processor, 3gbs ram memory, an nvidia geforce
8500gt 512mb (with propietary drivers and horrible plymouth, i'll file a
bug about that later), and ubuntu is running from a sata2 samsung hard
drive.

If anyone needs further details please tell me.

I had the same problem with karmic beta 64, although i could still pause with

flashplugin-installer in synaptic and downloaded the 64bit alpha plugin from
adobe, and then put it into /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins.
It's working fine now.

[Bug 439124] [NEW] [needs-packaging] lxtask

2009-09-29 Thread Daniel Añez Scott
Public bug reported:

LXTask is the standard task manager and system monitor of LXDE. It
starts via Ctrl+Alt+Del and is extremely lightweight. A must have for
anyone installing LXDE.

It is derived from the Xfce4 task manager with all the Xfce4
dependencies removed, some bugs fixed, and some improvement of UI.
Although being part of LXDE (lightweight X11 desktop environment), it's
totally desktop independent and only requires pure gtk+.
