I tried this steps, and it isn't working for me: Step 1: we must edit the /etc/default/grub file. [Bug 347444] Re: OSD hangs up applications leading to them greying out
I'm using ubuntu karmic, and get these gray windows too. I use emesene from bjfs PPA and can't use it with the notifications turned on because it becomes unresponsive when some one logs in/out, etc. In addition, the notifications look HUGE, take a look at this example (i was turning volume up): http://www.ubuntu-pics.de/bild/36458/pantallazo_01_o80Zu7.jpg -- OSD hangs up applications leading to them greying out https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347444 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 439124] [NEW] [needs-packaging] lxtask
Public bug reported: LXTask is the standard task manager and system monitor of LXDE. It starts via Ctrl+Alt+Del and is extremely lightweight. A must have for anyone installing LXDE. It is derived from the Xfce4 task manager with all the Xfce4 dependencies removed, some bugs fixed, and some improvement of UI. Although being part of LXDE (lightweight X11 desktop environment), it's totally desktop independent and only requires pure gtk+.
