[Bug 1124699] [NEW] [gm45] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x60020100

2013-02-13 Thread Daniel Dietrich
Public bug reported:

Not sure what went wrong. I guess it happened when I was trying out some Valve
game (Counter-Strike) with Steam for Linux. After a while (sometimes an hour,
sometimes less) the game crashes and I'm able get back to the desktop, but
sometimes the whole system freezes and I have to a hard reboot.
The gpu lockups already occured with the older intel driver (2.19?) of Ubuntu
Quantal , but I couldn't never send the crash log files to Launchpad as Apport
claimed there was already a bug about the problem.

[Bug 1102960] Re: dia crashes on startup

2013-02-08 Thread Daniel Dietrich
Still happens with up to date raring packages.
After starting Dia, one sees its window for about one second and then it
crashes.
Yes, it's still possible to run Dia from the command line, but it's barely
usable from there, as most functions are missing. Please fix this bug for the
final version, as I would say it's critical.

[Bug 998074] Re: [Wish] Please add bps and sample-rate conversion via sox

2013-01-25 Thread Daniel Dietrich
Thank you for your work!

I tested the soundKonverter 1.9.80 .deb file under Ubuntu 12.10.

The conversion to Opus works nice, I did find only a small problem.:
1. When the replaygain checkbox is set from a previous soundKonverter session
(for example from a Flac to Mp3 conversion) and I try in a new session to
convert an audio file to opus, the replaygain checkbox gets greyed out, but
every conversion fails because soundKonverter still tries to replaygain the
opus file at the end, which results in an error.

One question: Does soundKonverter also copy the tags (Artist, Title,...) to the
new opus files?
I couldn't check that, as no audio tag editor seems yet able to read/write Opus
tags. Suggestions welcome :)

A bug I've encountered with the Sox conversions:
2. When I try to convert from Flac to Flac, Ogg or Mp3 and check only the
channel conversion to Mono, the file gets encoded but it is still stereo.

My use case: Convert high quality lossless music (flac format) to burn it to a

At the moment, when i try to convert from flac to flac / wav / any other
lossless codec, it's not possible to set the bps and sample rate with

[Bug 870342] Re: sushi-start crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2012-04-10 Thread Daniel Dietrich
Sushi crashed for me too, Precise 64 bit, but I can't remember which mp3 was
the cause, as 9 out of 10 work fine. I found another file which doesn't crash,
but doesn't play.
You can find the stubborn file here: http://ubuntuone.com/1sSCAT4jje91oqZ716YbX2
It seems to be related to the tags. If I remove some tags of it, I can hear the
first second playing, then sushi closes.
If I remove every tag, it plays fine. I can also just add some text to the
album tag and it plays fine. I edit my files with kid3-qt (ID3v2.4.0 (TagLib)
with ISO-8859-1 text coding).

You can download the original file from:
http://ccmixter.org/files/Blackberry/17059 which plays fine for me...

[Bug 742045] Re: sound-indicator still shows Rhythmbox even though I did sudo aptitude remove rhythmbox

2012-04-10 Thread Daniel Dietrich
I had the same problem with Precise Beta 2. I want to add, even sudo apt-get
purge rhythmbox wouldn't delete those desktop files.
I have found the reason why they were created, at least in my case: I edited
some menu entries with the program alacarte, so for example I hid Rhythmbox
as I didn't want it to show up in Unity. With the de-installation of the music
player those files weren't deleted. Even deleting the menu entry inside
Alacarte, where I created/modified it, didn't delete the entry at
.local/share/applications. So Alacarte is to blame here. I think I found the
corresponding bug report for it:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/340285 There is even a
patch attached to solve the problem.
I can't recommend the use of Alacarte any more after watching its bug tracker :(
